I just came across the FTP, and I realize that a T 20 WC is due in Sri Lanka in some months time. For minnow teams, this is the most important tournament of the year where they get to play against others whose main job is to play cricket professionally and some get some autographs to cherish with their families. Top teams naturally consider this competition as a waste of time and generally decide to give some playing time to their bench/untested players. This September, I understand that India will be playing a few friendlies with the following minnows: Afghanistan Ireland Zimbabwe Pakistan Please discuss these matches, and all other friendlies in this thread.

I had a dream where India convincingly managed to beat South Africa in the T20 final and then nobody cared about it at all. The stadium looked like a Kanga league pitch with 500 spectators, it was broadcast on some regional Sinhalese TV channel and when I logged on to ICF, there was one thread about the game with 3 replies.

Urrrgghh, that wasn't India v/s SAF, you mistook it by just seeing the jersey colour, even Kenya and Afghans wear similar jerseys. :D

All countries have extreme fans who travel to every game, home or away. In India, we have that bald guy who moves around with a wooden trophy and has Tendulkar's name etched on his back. Pakistanis have that fakirchand lookalike chacha, who travels with the team. New Zealanders bring Dolly the sheep to all their games and the Aussies have Dean Jones who attends every match. You should apply for honorary citizenship of Kenya. They'd be delighted to have you. You must be knowing more about Kenyan cricket than the Kenyan cricketers themselves.:hatsoff: They would be so impressed with your in-depth knowledge of Kenyan cricket that they might even rename the Masai Mara after you. The consul general to the Kenyan embassy stays somewhere close to my home. I've seen his/her car in the vicinity on many occasions. Next time I spot it, I'm going to put in a word of recommendation for you.

India had enough of this mickey mouse tournament and signing autographs for star struck fans and players. Understandable, as this tournament was the only opportunity for some of the members of teams like Afghanistan, Ireland, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to meet real cricketers. Its rumoured that Hassan Raza, DHNBGGWDGAHZZ(sp?) Mendis, Luke Wright and Shahid Afridi has about a 100 bats each autographed by Kohli. They plan to set up a shop in their respective cities once they return home. Our cricketers can finally focus on important things like CLT20, walking the ramp for PETA, and the only form of the game that matters- ODIs where, we are world champions. :mi:
