He then tripped, fell flat on his face and couldn't ton up at Lord's for the only time in his career he got a useful start. One of the numerous instances he made a fool of himself. Flintoff was a bits and pieces cricketer - could bat a bit, could bowl a bit, and was terrible in the field. Like Ravi Bopara. Like Samit Patel. Like Michael Yardy. Like Luke Wright. Like . Difference was, he performed in a couple of games against Australia when they were having a breather from the mauling they were administrating to England on a regular basis. Which is why he became a legend through rosy success starved Pommie glasses. In short: Why do we care? :finger:

Ok, we hate England, but lets agree that Flintoff was a legend. He was not a bits n pieces player. He could bowl at 90+ mph, often crossing 150kph and he COULD hit the ball !!! How many allrounders in the world could do that ? Dont forget he had a big heart like Kapil ! Had this guy been in the present 11, he would have improved his stats by a huge notch ! Cheers

Every dog has its day. Sreesanth, the guy I've quoted sarcastically in my example has ripped through South Africa once, and that too in their backyard. Does that make him a good bowler? No. Flintoff is not a legend. Never was one. Maybe a legend through English eyes only, and that's saying it all.

Long term mediocrity, might I add. Played nearly a hundred tests and averaged mid-30s. Waugh's Australian side butchered his sorry a** down under in 2002-03, and at home in 2001. As for his World Cup performances.....zip. Typical pom. Eternal underachiever with a distinct lack of mental fortitude. And an oversized nose. But the Poms revere him and Dunc. Credit those two in building a squad for the flukey 2005 series, headed by another average cricketer - Michael Vaughnabe (Though thankfully his average crossed over to the just acceptable 40s, albeit his ODI average made up for it by being stuck in the 20s). "OMG ZEY WON 1 ASHES SERIES!!!!" say they. And now the fat guy is our coach. God what've we gotten ourselves into. :((

I get it, you have this chip on your shoulder about England despite living here (assumption yes, nevertheless probably true), its quite a standard view point on this forum actually, dont worry guys the queen loves you too.
