Sidhoni Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 In a related news' date=' Suresh raina has predicted that he will be injured during the time for CLt20 and wont be able to participate.[/quote'] CSk won the CLT20 when it was held in SA last time and Raina was their best batsman.
Needforspeed Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Direct Entry for IPL teams in Champions League T20 http://www.espncricinfo.com/champions-league-twenty20-2012/content/current/story/570875.html The Champions League 2012, which will be held between October 9 and 28 this year in South Africa, will be preceded by a qualifying stage involving six teams, consistent with the format for the tournament last year. However, the qualifiers this year will not feature any IPL team (Kolkata Knight Riders, who finished fourth in last year's IPL, competed in the CLT20 qualifiers in 2011). The six teams to play in the qualifying stage, as tweeted by Sundar Raman, a member of the CLT20 technical committee, are Pakistan's Sialkot Stallions, New Zealand's Auckland Aces, Trinidad and Tobago from the West Indies, one team from Sri Lanka and two from England. The top two teams from the qualifiers will join eight others in the main round. The eight sides confirmed to have qualified for the main round of the CLT20 - a tournament organised by the boards of India, Australia and South Africa - are the top four IPL teams (Mumbai Indians, who are also the CLT20 defending champions, current IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings who were the runners-up this year and Delhi Daredevils), Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers (both from the Big Bash League) and Titans and Lions (both from South Africa).
Pagalpanti Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 All 4 teams have direct entry now? Might as well call it IPL v2
someone Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Already seeing Pakistanis wishing that this tournament fails. Now that's the biggest problem with them due to their jealously. And yet for some reason, we still give them unwanted support.
superstar Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 It is funny how Aus, SA and Espn Star(which I think pushed for this) are not getting any stick.
Sid Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Useless tournament, where rules change more often than Pak captains.
Needforspeed Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 8 teams direct entry and only 2 teams from the qualifiers. BCCI, CA and SA Board leaving no room for doubt as to who owns the tournament. Can u blame the English if they are bugged. :hysterical:
RedFever Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 wont be suprised if next year, the fifth placed team in IPL players in the qualifiers.
superstar Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 wont be suprised if next year' date=' the fifth placed team in IPL players in the qualifiers.[/quote'] At some point of time Sony will stop them since it dilutes IPL value.
Zap_Brannigan Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 8 teams direct entry and only 2 teams from the qualifiers. BCCI' date=' CA and SA Board leaving no room for doubt as to who owns the tournament. Can u blame the English if they are bugged. :hysterical:[/quote'] Yes. Since they turned down any stakes in this tournament when offered, they have no right to be peeved about the format. Giles thought he was hot **** when he had stanfords money and thought he could strongarm BCCI for a larger share. Too bad, people seem to forget that ECB sold out its soul to stanford for money. ESPN is pushing this and the boards dont want to lose money and hence are ok with it. Seems like every year the committee realizes that something is wrong with the format and decides to change it. Low turnout led to more IPL teams. Low quality of cricket from SL and NZ boards and a lot of one sided games led to qualifiers. Its either this or cancellation. Once the league picks up, if it does, then more aus/sa teams could be added or IPL teams could be reduced.
maniac Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Sialkot Stallions to play the qualifiers....wonder how our Padosi friends will react if they get knocked out in qualifiers
Pagalpanti Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 MI have got their way for 2nd time in 2 seasons, last time they got to play 5 overseas players  NSW were champs of 2009 but didn't get a place in 2010 CLT20 because they didn't qualify for it. Why special treatment for MI?
