Cricket After Tendulkar?

In past 3 decades the world of cricket has seen some swashbuckling batting and bowling talents come and go, arguably the master class himself, SRT, has ruled 2 good decades...we have seen the brutality of Sir Vivian Richards, chewing gum between the jaws with sheer arrogance, an era where Wasim & Waqar slithered the ball like a snake right at the toes of batsmen, uncanny unorthodox captaincy of steve waugh, wrist art by shane warne, muralitharan...controlled and well designed bowling of Glen McGrath, and many more, too many to pen down.. Though Sachin remains and shines as the LAST LEGEND STANDING, some might wanna disagree and bring in their "ponting vs tendulkar" thesis, however, for me Sachin is Greater than anyone around right now, even ponting...for the sheer aftermath he can produce on his exit from all formats of cricket. How will it be for ICF'ers ?? Personally, i will continue watching cricket, the proven phenomenon of "life moves on" will be applicable in this case, but somewhere deep down inside, i would always feel that ITS NOT THE SAME anymore !

echoed my sentiments exactly. actually 3 years earlier I'd have said I'd stop watching cricket... but now having won the WC, I think he has done what anyone could hope to achieve in a career... and competitions like IPL has taken out the total desperation and emotional dependence on cricket and reduced it to a sport which just needs to be enjoyed and forgotten. Or I just got older.

Yep. Totally agree. It wouldn't be same without him. It's kinda same feeling when we lost Rafi.

The game moves on. It sucks when your favourite player retires though - I've experienced that myself. It will never be the same but someone else with come onto the scene. He might not be as good but will give you a reason to still watch the sport.

Sachin is someone every kid in India has grown up Idolizing, we all wanted to be like him but him retiring doesn't mean we will stop enjoying cricket. Sachin will always be remembered as the greatest Indian Cricketer that ever lived and for us he will always be the

he should go in the future as he will not be the same batsman i dont know how am i gonna bear it on the day he calls it quit i'll miss him very badly he is such a gr8 player and also a good human. he helps more than two hundred children's studies every yr and he is a private person which gives a bad impression for some people...though i'll support ma indian team and players i'll miss him in action badly:(

Honestly speaking, this comes from a Non - Sachin Fan, I am not a Sachin Worshipper, Ever since i started watching cricket i have seen sachin...thats how it is for me.

A lot of players I grew watching as a kid are now gone. I wasn't obsessed with Sachin in particular, but it will be sad. Seen many go-Lara, Ambrose, Walsh, Waugh and a lot of other favs who are not as good but still special due to childhood memories. e.g Alec Stewart, Thorpe, Gough, Caddick, Ather's is a **** but I liked him battling it out for England. This is no different for me.

Will surely miss him as he has been the very best that India has produced. But my love for cricket will stay the same even after his retirement. After all no one is bigger than the game.

Any game is more than a player - greats will come, greats will go but the game shall march on ALWAYS.

It would take a lot of time for us to adjust. If we do well post his retirement, then we may move on but if are screwed up, then the legacy would live even more. The best example for the above is that now, whenever I see an opposition's tail wagging, then the first thing that come sot my mind is wish Kumble would have been there. Same way Dravid would also be missed. PS: I am one of the biggest Sachin fans, so much so that, as a child, I used to cry whenever he got out. I have grown up watching him bat and following each and every match of his.
