1983-2011 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Sachin Tendulkar, who played in the CB series in 2011-12 and the Asia Cup, will be skipping the tour that includes five ODIs and one T20 game. "It is a long season ahead and I think we will come back to winning ways. Sachin wants to extend his career," the BCCI's chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth told reporters. "He is spacing it out very well." I think he is still good enough to be in playing 11 for ODI but he keeps getting rested from ODIs to extend his career. He has only played 10 ODIs after the World Cup and averaged 31.50, Should he just announce retirement from ODIs or are they resting him to extend his career so they can play him in the 2015 World Cup.
Needforspeed Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 He should either retire or play all games. If he keeps coming and going we will never have a settled line up. Maybe he is not motivated but all those commercial endorsements will not let him retire as long as he can walk without support.
The Outsider Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 :hysterical::hysterical: As expected picking and choosing the matches he wants to play for the country but always at Her Ambanis service - even when injured cheering from the sidelines.
bulbul Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 :hysterical::hysterical: As expected picking and choosing the matches he wants to play for the country but always at Her Ambanis service - even when injured cheering from the sidelines. country owe him that much :dontknow:
vamos_rafa Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 country owe him that much :dontknow: mmm Sarcasm..
Crookbond Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I would want him around in ODIs but if he keeps playing every alternate tour it disrupts the team balance. I wouldn't prefer that but again we don't know what his thought process is - so I kind of give the benefit of the doubt.
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 He don't play T20 due to not having a good record in it. He should all formats.
Number Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Sehwag was rested for Asia cup so Sachin went there. Hue and cry when he gets picked, same when he isn't. :winky:
India-KXIP fan Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Should retire from tests after home series' agaist Aus and Eng. Isn't good enough overseas anymore to persorm in 2013 away tours. ODI's I think he will be too old to perform in Aus by 2015 so yes he should retire from all internationals after home Aus & Eng series'.
daryl1985 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I think he will retire once he gets his 50th ODI century.
Needforspeed Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I think he will retire once he gets his 50th ODI century. He has 96 50s in ODIs and 49 100s. If he scores 4 more 50s and 1 more 100, He would have scored 100 50s and 50 100s in ODIs.
India-KXIP fan Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 He should either retire or play all games. If he keeps coming and going we will never have a settled line up. Maybe he is not motivated but all those commercial endorsements will not let him retire as long as he can walk without support. That's ridiculous he is not the type to care about money or records. He is a true team player who plays the game because he loves it and he loves his country. :isalute:
Ultimate_Game Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Forget odis, he should even retire from Tests by end of the year. He's touching 40 and you can see he doesn't have it in him to score in testing conditions anymore.
asterix Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 He will wait for atleast one ODI series against Bangladesh, before taking a final decision.. :dontknow:
carnish Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 He will wait for atleast one ODI series against Bangladesh' date=' before taking a final decision.. :dontknow:[/quote'] Bangladesh are hopeful of a full tour to India by the end of this year and I guess he is waiting to play in that :--D
