I have nothing against criticizing Rahul Gandhi and in fact I would join the queue' date=' but only as far his actions and policies are concerned. IMO,[b'] he has reached beyond the stage with a decade plus experience in politics where he can be differentiated from Sanjay Gandhi wielding much more power than his MP stature or Rajiv Gandhi becoming the PM within a 4 years of joining politics to disregard the dynasty argument.
but in this 10 year period he has had repeated failures in every single election where he has campaigned extensively (UP 2007/2012, Bihar etc) and he has not given his opinion on any issue of national importance so what other reasons can you give for his "importance" other than the fact that he has the Gandhi surname??

Poor Rahul. The guy just wanted to have his own life. But he's been forced to do something which he's not comfortable with. What's wrong with Congress? Won't the party survive if anybody other than a 'Gandhi' is not at the helm? The guy is trying his best but TBH, he'd love to have his own life, FFS.

if that is the case then he should have the guts to say that out loud and distance himself from Politics. Its difficult but not impossible.

NEW DELHI: The stray voices demanding that Rahul Gandhi take up a larger political role has turned into a chorus, congealing into a clear message that its time for him to take over. Yet another indication came when 10 party MPs on Thursday demanded that Rahul become the leader of the House in Lok Sabha, the post vacated by President Pranab Mukherjee.
They included Bhakta Charan Das (Odisha), Francisco Sardinha (Goa), P C Chacko (Kerala), Arvind Sharma (Haryana), Sanjay Nirupam (Maharashtra), Partap Singh Bajwa (Punjab), M L Sharma (J&K), Ratan Lal (Rajasthan), J P Gaud (Karnataka) and Ninong Ering (Arunchal).
Immediately, the issue pulled in other votaries. Raj Babbar, Congress MP from Ferozabad, said, "When Rahul has agreed to take up a proactive role, then why not the leader of the House? It will send a message to youngsters across India that its voice is being heard in Parliament." The actor-MP said Rahul had started "youth politics" which resulted in emergence of CMs like Omar Abdullah and Akhilesh Yadav.

Rahul Gandhi Not to Join Government GETTING READY FOR BIGGER BATTLE Nehru-Gandhi scion to oversee Congress preparations for the next Lok Sabha elections

Congress’ heir apparent, Rahul Gandhi, is not likely to join the Manmohan Singhled government. He will instead to focus on overseeing his party’s preparations for the next Lok Sabha polls, senior Congress party leaders told ET. The Nehru-Gandhi scion is reluctant to take up a ministerial position, despite his recent statement that he would play a more proactive role in the party and the government, the senior Congress leaders said on the condition of anonymity. “There is no need for re-designating Rahul Gandhi. He is in charge of the organisation now,” said a senior Congress leader, who did not wish to be named. Rahul Gandhi will focus on organisational matters and spearhead the party’s campaign in the BJP-ruled Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, for example, the leaders added. On Monday, for instance, Gandhi discussed with Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan the future of the party’s alliance with the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party and the possible political realignment in Maharashtra. Although there has been a growing clamour in Congress for a dominant role in the government for the young general secretary, Gandhi has been displaying a distinct reluctance to join the government, the leader quoted earlier said. This has also put paid to the hopes of the younger ministers for promotions in their current tenure. The indications of Gandhi’s decision came on Tuesday, when several Congress leaders were disappointed by the Cabinet rejig effected by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. While many in the party acknowledged that P Chidambaram’s return to the finance ministry would send out a positive signal to industry and investors, not many were willing to bet on Sushil Kumar Shinde’s ability to sustain the work carried out by the outgoing home minister. Senior Congress leaders were especially perplexed by the decision to opt for a part-time power minister. “The timing is just inopportune. On a day when the country faced the biggest blackout, the minister in charge of power was promoted as the home minister,” said a senior Congress leader, who did not wish to be identified. The leader added that it was widely expected that the ministry would have a full-time minister as the prime minister himself had identified the power sector as an area of major concern for his government. Another leader said the PM could correct this lapse when he looks at another reshuffle after the monsoon session of Parliament.
Economic Times As expected!! and BTW if he goes for campaigning in Gujarat, he will be demolished by Modi while in HP there is so much of in-fighting among senior Cong leaders that he will not have much affect.

Word is he's been active on the Aadhar scheme' date=' whatever that entails; sure is a good campaign for 2014.[/quote'] aadhar + cash transfer is a master stroke for UPA. see here http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/10-lakh-kirana-shops-to-be-backbone-of-UPAs-direct-cash-transfer-scheme/articleshow/17813985.cms So not only they have found a way to secure funds for their own pockets, they have also managed to entice small shop owners (that formed part of BJP voteshare) to vote for them by giving them a share of the pie. Just genius. Which brings me to the second point. How can a party that can conjure up such genius moves has MMS, Sonia and Yuvraj as leaders? Just HOW?!
