nitinbwj Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Anything over 250 is going to be almost impossible to chase. This is how our downfall started last year at the MCG. We needed less than 300, and I thought we will at least make it interesting. I know NZ bowling << Australia bowling, but the capitulation at the MCG wasn't just because of the bowling, it was also due to the mental pressure. at home against NZ bowling.......:hysterical:
Crookbond Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 India's successful 200+ 4th Innings run chases in India No code has to be inserted here. PS - Tie included as we did not lose the match.

Crookbond Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Both - We were indeed No.1 in that period!
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I have faith in Gambhir, Pujara, Kohli, Raina and Dhoni. They should get it done in the 2nd innings.
Crookbond Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I trust Tendulkar and the fact that he "enjoys the game" :proud:

We managed to chase almost 250 in a day as well (that too on 5th day) vs WI in mumbai if not for Fatwins slow running.
Sidhoni Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 ^In less than a day. 80 overs to be precise. 241 was the target IIRC.
Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 It's a sad day that we are thinking of a tough chase in the 4th innings to win a serie against kiwis - the same kiwis who were blanked by WI recently :((

Ultimate_Game Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 If we lose the Test... we need to blow up the team and start rebuilding from the ground up. Every spot should be looked at starting right from the top. At least one of Sehwag/Gambhir has to be dropped in favor of Rahane, and Tendulkar needs to go and Rohit brought in to see what he can do in Tests. If we can't beat NZ at home no point in going ahead with the same tried and tested has beens.
Sidhoni Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 True. Not being able to chase 250 on Day 4 against NZ that too in Indian conditions will be a shame.
saneindian Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I hope they send Kohli at 4 in the chase.
The Realist Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I hope they send Kohli at 4 in the chase. :cantstop: There's more chance of Pietersen and Strauss sharing a sauna session
Old guy Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 other then rohit i totally agree cos if we are doing it from scratch then find some one who is in form for now
jairamesh Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Well selectors cocked-up for an opportunity to re-build, all changes were forced by circumstances. What's worse, the only chance to monitor potential replacement before England series is the India A tour to NZ in October. The Ranji season starts around same time as England tour. So can't even ask the likes of Sehwag, Tendu, and Gambhir to get some form back in domestic circuit. There is no ODIs before the 1st Eng Test, so again the likes of Sehwag, Tendu, and Gambhir miss out to play some international cricket. This is not looking good. The only realistic player that could come into the current squad is Shami Ahmed, if he does really well in NZ.
Raghav_12 Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Captain should be changed before it becomes 0-8 at home as well..
