His problem is not swing or that he's not good. He is not that consistent. Period. The day he is consistent and learns to control his line and length I have no doubt in my mind he will be a sub-26 averaging bowler. That's why he needs to be handled properly and not summarily dropped. Yes' date=' he should take a break from intl cricket to improve but the plan has to be communicated to him and he has to work with BCCI and other academies/coaches to get better.[/quote'] Well playing in the Champions League is not going help.

I have no doubt if a 40 year old has been still keeps on "enjoying the game" it will be 0-20 and sure blame Dhoni for it as he didn't show "leadership skills" for not "leading from the front" Obviously scoring 50s lower down the order to keep us in the game is not leading from the front :giggle:
UG let me ask you one thing .. Isnt it part of leadership to select the team .. I mean the final 11. Why do we need our selectors to make the decision. Why cant Dhoni stand up and ask Sachin to sit out if he feels that Sachin is hurting India's chances.. I want a serious reply ... No sarcastic comments please. Just want your opinion. Thanks.

Already virat and pujara have shown that they can fill the boots of RD and VVS.So who is to say that Rahane/Rohit will not be able to do a better job than sachin in his current form
Absolutely. Never under-estimate the power of youth. And frankly if I have to watch a batsman average in 30s I would rather watch a youngster who has the potential to get better than a 40 year old has been whose time is nearly up. He may well play a few good innings but we are not gaining anything by persisting with such a player. Everything comes to an end and sadly it's clear to see that SRT's time is up at intl level. If he is troubled by Boult and company what chances are there that he would succeed against the English, Aussie and SA bowlers?

Yes MSD should be sacked and Gambhir should be made the non-playing captain. MSD has done hardly anything wrong, yes I'm one of the critic of his captaincy. Its the top order who is letting him down on a 500+ wickets. Even he as a lower order bat is scoring good runs, Ashwin is scoring runs. And 3 out of top 4 are walking wickets. Sehwag, Gambhir, Zaheer and Tendulkar( Laxman's party ) should take the responsibity who have been utter useless, sorry to say.
Its not about doing wrong personally (though Dhoni showed no spine batting abroad in each of 7 matches he played except an odd innings here and there when it didnt matter). Ultimately the person at the top has to put his hand up and say he is responsible for what happens under him. MMS is personally one of the most honest politicians ever, but is he not criticized for corruption that happens in his government? And dhoni has not even been performing personally. I gave him the benefit of doubt after the England tour, I was defending Dhoni while blaming the batters and bowlers for the debacle. Zak got injured and none of the other bowlers showed up and the batting was equally spineless. If something was wrong in the England tour, it was Dhoni's personal batting where he never showed any fight. When he came in Nottingham , we had a small lead which could have been built upon and we could score. Poof he goes out first ball and India lose that test along with that too. In Australia there was no such excuse, Bhajji had been dropped, Ishant was fit, Zak lasted the whole series. Yadav bowled well even though not consistently. In the first test we were in a decent position at 214 for 3. Dhoni had to perform there to give us a sizeable lead. We capitulated. Then in the next innings we had the aussies by their necks at 27 for 4. We let that slip too. The first test of the series just set the tone for the remainder. Even if we let that slide, this is a home series against a lowly ranked side. Even in the 90s when we were pisspoor abroad we always won at home. There is no way an Indian captain should continue if he isn't able to win against a poor side at home. Ganguly lost against aussies, That is acceptable because they were the best in the world, not against the 8th or 9th ranked team who just lost to even the windies. Dhoni can manage his ad hoardings or buy motorbike racing teams or attend CSK team meetings where he can bring in Raina and Badri in the side, but if we lose tomorrow, his head should roll. Not that it should be the only change, but it has to be there

Let him show his prowess against Kiwis at home. These are bread and butter conditiond for Dhoni. I am pretty sure, you would have blamed Sachin, if he had scored some runs here declaring he is earning some cheap runs.

wht if we win tomorrow some how..do we forget all these things u wrote here? i think he should have been replaced even before this series but our selectors are spineless anddumb gambhir is still in team and i can already see we losing to england cos of these two openers and tendulkar..and like always bowlers will be blamed :giggle:

UG let me ask you one thing .. Isnt it part of leadership to select the team .. I mean the final 11. Why do we need our selectors to make the decision. Because in India decisions are based mostly on popularism rather than reality. Sachin is too big a figure to be dropped. The amour of vitriol and backlash one will face if sachin is dropped will be huge. I don't anyone in India has the will power to face upto that much criticizm. TBF the same applies to Dhoni too. As long as he remains a hugely popular figure it will be virtually impossible to sack him as captain ragardless of results

Normally I agree that choosing the players is part of the leadership role but in India benching a senior and too somebody like Tendulkar is something different. Dhoni, or any other captain, can't drop Tendulkar. If tomorrow Tendulkar makes a statement that he plans to play 2015 WC no captain will be able to drop him even if SRT averages 10 with the bat. In sub-continent dropping a senior and a revered player liek Tendulkar has to happen at the top and frankly this is why selectors get paid.

If we are talking about 8-0 then yes he has a part of blame to take. But in this test series, MSD has done nothing wrong(Probably playing Raina is the only one and that too hasn't affected us one bit in this test as he has scored his share of runs). People got to realize it's not MSD or his captaincy because of whom we are losing now .. this test, this series. There are some other issues for everyone to see, a look at the scorecard is all it takes to figure that out. If we are gonna sack him just for the sake of it, that too without any alternative for the spot, then its wrong. Rather drop non-performers and get new guys in.

It's funny that you are making this statement when it seems Dhoni is the one who scores all the "cheap" runs :giggle: Apparently Dhoni's average of 38 is all because of cheap runs. Wish our specialist batsmen were able to score cheap runs like Dhoni - at least we wouldn't be strugling to beat kiwis at home :haha:

Amarnath may have to leave selection panel soon as he had asked for Dhoni's removal from captaicy which of course Cheeka and company didn't agree to. Amanrnath had demanded why a 0-8 captain is being continued. Amarnath may be axed as selector after differences with Srikkanth http://cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/52258/amarnath-may-be-axed-as-selector-after-differences-with-srikkanth

Yes it does. As long as Dhoni is popular with BCCI, he wil be the captain regardless of 8-0 abroad or 8-0 at home. He can buy motorbike teams, or play Champions league and then demand rest for International fixtures, but he will be at the helm till the BCCI leadership changes To add to that, Gambhir's relationship with the BCCI soured after the IPL injury debacle, so I dont see him getting that captaincy as well. The only remaining BCCI anointed players are Kohli and Raina and Kohli is still new to tests while Raina has technical problems and shouldnt even be in the team IMO give kohli the captaincy, he is young but has proved that he has a sound head on his shoulders. Its not like he can do worse than 8-0 abroad.
