Actually law of averages goes against gambler's fallacy. E.g., when Dhoni loses 8 straight tosses, people expect him to win the next one citing "law of averages" but since toss is an independent event the chance of Dhoni winning the toss is same as losing the toss. Same applies to winning the match or scoring runs in a match. Performances in the previous matches have no bearing on the current or future matches, and those who think in terms of law of averages are victims of gambler's fallacy.

I'm not favor in any change in batting lineup right now. Even rotating pacer like Zaheer dont gives me much confidence in bowling attack. Cant change Ojha simply because he aint used enough to judge his form. Rather more net practice for the batsman on facing pace attack is necessary atm. Perera having good form already from previous series, but Malinga & Angelo back in wicket taking form more worring. Such defeat where Indian whole lineup collaps in short mergin, is a wake up call for everyone. India cant digest away series defeat in SL atm not only becoz WC will be there but need to boost moral for International matches before coming home series.

Pretty "ordinary" performance from the Indian side today to quote a legend who can no longer run or catch. Few things to note... 1. We are beginning to depend too much on Kohli (and to a lesser extent Dhoni) nowadays. Most of our recent wins have been on the back of Kohli & Dhoni. If you take these two out, especially Kohli, we would have been rolled over easily in quite a few matches. It's almost how were in 90s and Tendulkar in the Kohli role. 2. Sehwag has suddenly seemed to have aged. The guy's reflexes are slow and he should no longer field in slips. It's a toughie where else he can be placed on the field but to drop catches off new balls is not the way to go. We need to groom slip catchers both in Tests & odis. 3. Ashwin has to be the slowest player playing cricket professionally atthe moment. I have no doubt that by the end of his career he would have overtaken Inzi with the maximum no. of runouts and also maximum no. of mixups he would be involved in. The guy finds more comical ways to get run out at the most inopportune time. I thought he was an intelligent chap but I have my doubts seeing the way he runs while batting. 4. We have no bowlers other than Ashwin. Sadly for us it's either score 300+ or chase 300+ to win a match I say let's go with 8 batsmen+Ashwin+Pathan+another bowler (doesn't matter who) coz I don't think likes of Raina & Sehwag can bowl worse than our specialist bowlers. 5. Fatso Fletcher should get down from his arm-chair and at the very least make Umesh bowl in the nets for maybe 15-20 mins before our bowling innings starts. I don't think Umesh bowls in the nets at all on match-days and as a result his first spell is the sort a bowler would usually bowl in the nets. I am getting tired of all those 0-20s after first 2 overs.

I don't know about others, especially those picking Sehwag in Tests in upcoming series against New Zealand, but Sehwag is a liability. I have yet to see him play a fluent international innings in the last 12 months besides that double century. Really enough is enough, Sehwag, Laxman, and Zaheer have to go or else good performances will be followed shallow performances like these every series. Sehwag was very fortunate in the 1st ODI to get 90 odd runs, his fielding is amateur, and he hardly bowl these days. There is Rahane, Pujara, Tiwary, Mandeep, Unmukt Chand, all knocking on the door for the last 12 to 16 months.

Can't disagree much with you. Zak has put on weight as usual post off season, Sehwag has aged overnight with slowed reflexes as he was a fairly safe catcher earlier and is now dropping easy catches. Laxman simply has to go as we can't afford to keep likes of Pujara, Rahane & Rohit on the sidelines anymore.

They need to show more commitment to winning tests to get me back again. I do follow the scores and match report though!

The start time is too early for anyone to watch the games fully on the East coast and on a working day it's not possible. Between these are the times when you differentiate a true fan from a bandwagoner. Anyone can put on a Team India jersey proclaiming to "Bleed Blue" after the World Cup win but this is the time you find out who the true cricket fans and supporters really are. But the very fact you are on the forum and are disappointed at the team's loss means you care
