This one time i took a rickshaw frm station & the guy said 30 buks .. very very satisfied with myself ' date=' i get in ...shocker was when he stops less than 100ms ahead and tells me this was where i get off... never felt so stupid[/quote'] These days it's easier with maps. Even if you take a rickshaw, you can always guess approx fair fare.

Another thing I liked about Chennai is that people aren't pseudo-sophisticated. You can sit aaraam se in your veshti at a 5-star and eat with your hands and nobody will give you a second look.. Don't be affected by the negative reviews/experiences of posters here I am sure you will like the place.

That's the happening thing in Madras, Dude - the TODO list - eating with hands in a 5 star!:hysterical:

:finger: to all the haters Madras is the only metro in India that has even remotely cared to preserve some semblance of tradition. We don't go crazy over pizza and burg. ers , we love our sambar vada and chicken chettinad. Unlike those presumptuous twats from dilli, mc\bc gaalis are not first words we hear when we come out of the womb. Unlike the idiots from Mumbai, we dont have to live in fear everyday, thinking about being gunned down the Mafia. We don't fake pretend like we are western, like those spammers from blore. In short - we are genuine people. P.s - kolkata is just an elaborate collection of Communists. It will be an insult to the other real metros to lump kokata with them.

Haha..You just contradicted yourself in that one statement. Didn't we have this discussion a few months back..am having a sense of deja-vu here
You can have your deja vus and discussions about dumps with yourself.

Now, if I am honest - there are one or two minor problems if you want to live in city. For example, the temperature never goes below 120 degrees. But the flip side to that is that if isro does decide to send a mission to Mars, madraasis literally need no training to qualify for that program..we will acclimate easily to Martian conditions. :d. It is also true that within two weeks you will be roasted like barbecue chicken but really, these are small prices to pay for an overall awesome experience :yay:

You know - for a person that is supposedly so well educated, you do behave very immaturely  Or perhaps you are just in a mood to troll.

I took an auto for the airport and he took me on a 15 mintues ride. The next time around I realized that it was only a 5 minutes walk. Autowallahs are same eveywhere, especially if you are not from that place. :((

MHR, don't forget to buy the 'testicle icepack' before you move to Chennai. You can get it in any Medical Store. This is a must for those relocating to Chennai. The double folded Lungi/Veshti no longer has effective cooling and it's advisable to use that ice pack whenever you step out in Chennai. This is a life saver as it protects the 'affected area' reaching boiling and then melting point, saving your valuable sperm count.

Jao ge to mit jaoge oh MHR123, teri barbadi ke charche hain aasmanon mein, tumhari dastaan tak nahi hogi dastaanon mein :P Some months ago I had an interesting convo with Anonymous regarding Nightlife in Chennai. You can read all about it here- Pages 7 and 8 Some travel tips to Chennai- 1) (Valid if your are traveling from Mumbai, Pune or some other such super city)- Set your watch 100 years back. 2) Always pays to have a local friend. No matter how much you ignored him/her during school and college, if he/she is in Chennai he/she has to be your new best friend. Bestest friend if he/she knows Tamil. 3) Chennai has amazing nightlife. You can have filter coffee at 9 pm and hear an assortment of people discuss the following at the kapee house - why did Jayalalitha win? Why is DMK not as efficient as AIDMK? Who was the greater mathematician- Ramanujam or Aryabhatta? 4) Rickshaw drivers are totally cool. They never lie. They are honest, down to earth and co-operative. The phrase Athithi devo bhav was coined during the reign of the Chola king, Murli Vijay III when famous rickshaw driver Pralaynath Gendaswamy ferried the king of neighbouring Kalinga free of cost. The rickshaw drivers are so honest that they will demand only Rs 300 for a 2 km stretch. The malls and beaches ( Lol at those who compare Marina beach with Juhu. Juhu is way better. Chowpatty even more so) are strictly ok. Elliot's beach is fine. But its so humid that the moisture will damage your phone. The best thing to do when in Chennai is to go to Mahabalipuram. That is an amazing site and the trip to Chennai becomes bearable just for that. Or to Pondicherry (poor man's Goa).
Worth reading over and over :--D :hysterical:
