Ultimate_Game Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Normally India-SL series is more of India flogging a dead horse, or shall I say a dead Loin :giggle:, but this series did have its share of positives... 1. Return of Irfan Pathan - The biggest plus is Irfan is back and he adds balance to the team, and with the next WC in Aus he will be crucial to our chances in that tourney. 2. Tiwary grabbing his chances - Tiwary performed in both the games and showed he has the temperament to perform when under pressure. He deserves a longer run in the team and should be persisted with ahead of Rohit. 3. Kohli - Underlined his importance to the team and showed he's one of the best batsmen going around. 4. Batting - Our batting was pretty solid and the batsmen chased huge totals or set up winning totals barring the 2nd odi. 5. Dinda doesn't belong in intl cricket - Hopefully for us this is the last we see of Dinda in the Indian team. The guy is as cr@p as they come and he would find it tough to get in the Zim team and should never even get near the India A team, forget Team India. 6. Fielding - Indian youngsters in Kohli, Tiwary, Raina and Rohit showed that at least the next generation is good at fielding. The last odi in the series was won due to our better felding with runouts making the difference. When the seniors retire and Gen Y takes over at least the gap between our fielding and the rest wouldn't be that big.
rkt.india Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 5. Dinda doesn't belong in intl cricket - Hopefully for us this is the last we see of Dinda in the Indian team. The guy is as cr@p as they come and he would find it tough to get in the Zim team and should never even get near the India A team, forget Team India. There some issues with him. First of all his Kangaroo action which affects his accuracy and pace. His short balls are quick but fuller balls are slow due to that action. With that action, if he does not bowl 140+, he is a cannon fodder and he does not cause he is not a quick bowler. He can bowl quick some times when he puts in extra effort but extra effort can lead to injuries as well as it had happened in IPL this year. He can be effective in T20 where he has to bowl only 4 overs in the match in 2 spells where he can put that extra effort.
jairamesh Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Another positive I observed was our fielding, probably one our best fielding units put out. Especially last game, Rahane, Gambhir, Kohli, Tiwary, Raina, Rohit phew! If only the bowlers could raise their fielding standards.
Pagalpanti Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 1,2,3 - Agree 4. Batting - well the pitches were flat and SL attack isn't one of the best going around probably just a little better than our attack. So can't judge based on this. 5. Woah, he's played what? 10 ODI's and already should be dropped? Whats important is he wasn't smacked around like a Vinay kumar or any trundler. He has a good bouncer and bowls heavy balls. He hasn't had a good time thus far but he can improve because he has shown signs of being a good quick bowler.
Sean Bradley Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Irfan Pathan positive for sure,I still think tiwary is not a intl. quality player, weak against short stuff and very mediocre leg spinner, a good fielder nevertheless, we dont have a good spinner in the circuit, harby is over ashwin has never risen to the occasion.
Number Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Vinay Kumar will stay out of the team!! :aha: Are you sure ? :nervous:
GautiMaan Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Irfan Pathan positive for sure' date='[b']I still think tiwary is not a intl. quality player, weak against short stuff and very mediocre leg spinner, a good fielder nevertheless, we dont have a good spinner in the circuit, harby is over ashwin has never risen to the occasion. still better than nohit who cant play full balls, btw irfan's pull shots were impressive:nice:
Needforspeed Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Vinay Kumar will stay out of the team!! :aha: Dont think so. Both DInda and Yadav were cr@p. That opens the way for Kooooooooomars :nervous:
Sean Bradley Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 still better than nohit who cant play full balls' date='btw irfan's pull shots were impressive:nice:[/quote'] sure better than nohit but not an intl. quality player yet, yuvi comes back tiwary sits out, i still think uthappa is better than nohit & tiwary.
GautiMaan Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 ^ So do i,robin can be a good finisher for us imo but as of now Tiwary deserves an extended run
Needforspeed Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 ^^ Actually Uthappa's style of batting is more suited to ODIs rather than T20. Its unfair when guys like Rohit keep getting so many chances, Uthappa is not in the selectors scheme of things for ODI. Plus he can keep wickets too if needed.
GautiMaan Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 ^^^Thats another thing to think about, what happens if Dhoni gets himself injured or banned in the middle of a series?Even guys like pappu have been given a chance,so why not robin?
Sean Bradley Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 sehwag gambhir kohli yuvi uthappa raina dhoni I pathan Can anyone beat this lineup?
J P K Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Vinay Kumar will stay out of the team!! :aha: haters :headshake:

Keeping in 50 over and 20 over cricket are two diff things. If he wants to be considered as a wkt keeper batsmen in ODI s then he should play as such for Karnataka
b555 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 nothing new from kohli and I see only 2 negatives from here rohit will be out vinay will be back

b555 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Uthappa does keep wickets for Karnataka in One days now. that makes him a specialist keeper :cantstop:
