More... 15 Al-Qaida activists arrested in Manipur 20 Aug 2007, 1018 hrs IST,PTI IMPHAL: Fifteen suspected Al-Qaida activists have been arrested from Moreh town in Chandel district of Manipur bordering Myanmar, official sources said on Monday. While 10 activists were Myanmarese, five were from Bangladesh, the sources said. Assam Rifles personnel, acting on a tip-off, nabbed them from a house at Moreh Ward number 3, about 120 km from here on August 17, the sources said. All of them had entered India without valid documents, they said. They were proceeding to Bangladesh via Manipur and Silchar in Assam, the sources said. Foreign currency, including US dollars, were seized from the arrested persons, the sources said. The other currencies recovered from them were Bangladeshi Taka, Myanmarese Kyat and some coins. While one of the activists had a work permit of Thailand, identity card, hospital card, income tax card, a bank receipt of a Kuala Lumpur bank were also seized from the others, the sources said. The activists were identified as Md Nasen (42), Faizu Rehaman (17), Sled Salam (21), Abul Hussein (42) and Md Rehman (18), all Bangladeshi national. The rest were identified as Mahabu Basar (22), Md Junet (28), Basir Ahmad (21), Md Salim (23), Sabir Ahmad (31), Md Rohid (17), Abdullah (32), Md Abdul (18), B Ahmad (18) and Sali Ahmad (32), all from Myanmar-Bangladesh border, the sources said. Not every single terrorist blowing stuff up in India is pakistani or pakistani-funded. Militancy in Kashmir (and rest of India) exploded into a new-found gear in 1989- just as when 500-600 miles away, the Soviet Union decieded to get the f*ck outta Afghanistan. That 8-9 year long holy Islamic jihad against the 'Godless commies' ended the very same year terrorism in Kashmir shot up in activity & in just a few years, totally paralyzed Kashmir. This is just a 'coincidence' ?!? You think that hundreds of thousands of muslim fighters, many of whom FYI came from all over the Islamic world to fight for 'allah's cause' just happened to spend a couple of nights in celebration, pack up and go home to their countries ?! Militant Islamism is a tool against India- and it is not being weilded *just* by Pakistan.Remember, despite all its rosy and tempting aspects, peace with China is an illusion. We are in cold war with China and it'd be a lot better if India behaved that way. Regardless of all the nonsense that some will spout, China ultimately is a brutal dictatorship. Their government is on record for doing what it wants and if people get in the way, they just mow em down. Remember Tiananmen Square ? China isn't just going to sit back and watch India skyrocket to the center stage. It knows direct military action against India is out of question unless India attacked it first on a massive scale (and even then, it'd be compelled to seek a negotiated solution by big bro America and EU because they are capitalist whores who don't want money-chain to be upset by war). But it sure isn't against destabilizing India to curb its growth/fragment it. Ultimately, China knows that if a powerful,insurgency-free & rich India sits on its border, Indians will start yapping about Tibet or bringing Tibet up at the drop of a hat and it will be majorly embarassment for China - or worse yet, lead to some sort of withdrawal from Tibet. That is as unpaleteable as it gets for China. It doesn't take much to get a bunch of your people with funding to go around supplying/hiring Islamic terrorists and pointing them towards India with big guns. If Pakistan can do it, so can China. Don't be so surprised....there is no way that terrorism could have survived for so long without the active support of the politicians. The chief minister of JK has accepted that some politicians have been supporting terrorist organistions like Hisbul.... The samajwadi party is also known to support people of suspicious characters. North East is the single most neglected part of our country and nothing pi$$es me off as much as an Indian looking at a chap from Assam, Meghalaya etc and thinking, "Jaroor he is from China". Sometimes I find it hard to beleive that North East has really not exploded as much as Kashmir has. The other day in a seperate thread I had mentioned how Indian Govt. spends more on J&K than all the seven sister states of NE(excluding Assam) put together. WHat gives?
