You probably have my posts and viewpoint confused with someone else. Just coz others spoke about spectator sport and cricket being one it doesn't mean I hold that viewpoint too. Please read my posts on this thread once again to figure out better Just reverse engineer T20 to test cricket and it becomes readily apparent what constitutes spectator sport. You can observe, however, certain parameters being applied when a spectator sport is created - as in T20. Hence I asked you to peruse of that example in all sincerity. I haven't been evading, I've just been avoiding opening up a whole new line of discussion which I know this will. There is no chance that a post to that effect will be taken as something to study and every chance that it will serve as a jumping board for another protracted blahfest. What I have seen are similar rules for board games, video games, movies and TV shows which is why I claimed that such a thing is true for spectator sports.

Brazil -- Football England - Football, Rugby, Cricket (negligible) USA -- Any sh!t with some spice these people can watch China - Table Tennis, Badminton Each country will have it's own marquee sport and for India it is cricket. I doubt anyone disagrees to that. But, I will watch if Parupalli Kashyap is participating in the All England Badminton Championships just like I watched P Gopichand win it in 2001. And :facepalm: for the author for comparing individual sports to team sports! Meh. They excel at most Olympic sports. They are the Olympic champions. Most countries support multiple spots a lot more than we do to be honest. How many people will ever care about Akhil Kumar after the Olympics. Almost none till the next Asian Games medal, Commonwealth medal or Olympics medal. Indians still give more importance to a century in an IPL game than a hard-earned Olympics medal. Same goes for Indian media.
