gloryof83 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 thought of the day: Would we have been better off without Independence.
coffee_rules Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 thought of the day: Would we have been better off without Independence. Would we be better off without knowing that the world is not flat?
gloryof83 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Would we be better off without knowing that the world is not flat? Typical, ask yourself what have we achieved in the last 65 years? Don't give me the yuppie crowd's catchphrase India Shining. Rich are richer Poor are still poor. Most corrupt politicians in the world. And the best of all The don't care, chalta hai attitudes of the amm junta Yup we have achieved a lot since Independence.
varun Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Rich are richer Poor are still poor. Most corrupt politicians in the world. Before independence: Rich are whites or servile desis. Most are poor (read up on the British Raj famines) Corruption was rampant even then. Most are illiterate (read up on literacy rates at the time of independence) Yup we have achieved a lot since Independence. yeah, the usual snarky cliches of the self-flagellating crowd.

Literacy rates all over the world have improved since the 1940s, so that not even a valid point. Why don't you enlighten me with our glorious achievements..

Open a new thread to spew your ignorance. Try living like a second class citizen in your country to understand how it was to live under the British. Happy Independence Day, everyone! Hopefully the coming elections will change the political scenario in the country.

For one caste system is slowly but surely going away. Increase in literacy levels seem to be directly related to the end of colonialism. Anyone can aspire to loot the country :--D Women are definitely getting more rights. Poverty is going away but very slowly. Even fools who question Independence are allowed access to Internet. On a negative point, religion based divide is growing day by day thanks to our politicians. Difference between super rich and middle class is getting larger as well

surajmal Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Happy Independence Day to All! On a side note 2 simple facts for gora lickers: Literacy rate at time of independence ~ 10%. Economic Growth Rate (from 1800-1947) = Population Growth Rate, meaning economically India stayed stagnant for 150 years. Yes. We should have stayed under the boot of white man. :finger:
