King Tendulkar Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Not sure when but it will definitley happen. Great bat, brilliant athleticism in fielding and running btwn wickets, brilliant keeper, great attitude and spirit. This guy is a cert for skipper. Who knows he may even be next skipper after Dravid. As by then he will have performed in tests and odis over a period which will show and convince he is the real deal and here to stay!
Chandan Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Let us hope so. He did a wonderful job for TN in the domestic cricket as skipper.
veer Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 yes he is captain material.. but he is far behind in the line.. after Big 4.. Yuvi, Dhoni, Zak are in line.. who knows Veeru could get in line too..
gator Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 it will be a stiff competition between Dhoni and KKD for captaincy and KKD definitely hass his nose ahead..... The village idiot Sehwag should never let anywhere close to decision making..... he is an embarrassment.....
veer Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 yes but we are talking about BCCI here.. many times they do things exactly opposite of common sense..
yoda Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 first it was kaif who was captaincy material, then sehwag, and yuvraj, ....
Ram Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 If he keeps performing in the way he is , i have no doubts Karthik will be our captain soon. The maturity he has shown for a 22 year old is amazing.
monkeyfood Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I could definitely see karthik as captain he just bats really well and a great fielder as well
fineleg Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Is Karthik a great "fielder"? I've seen him drop many many catches. As a keeper, Yes. As a fielder, No. Captaincy: Too early to tell...he is a smart kid, but needs to show consistency over a year or two, and then we can talk abt captaincy etc.
theguyinallblue Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 even chappel said something on these lines... we have some explosive batsmen for ODIs.... its the tests where we would suffer the most when the trio retires... karthik is a good replacement for Ganguly... we need some one who will give solid support as dravid gives... i think Dravid should go on talent scout for his replacement.... we can not afford to give this job to selectors...and specially that vengy who does not see any talent in the country at all...
Parth Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Khartik's fielding was below poor in the first ODI, he really should have ran in and taken that catch at Long on.
fineleg Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Khartik's fielding was below poor in the first ODI' date=' he really should have ran in and taken that catch at Long on.[/quote'] Agreed.
King Tendulkar Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 He is still a great fileder. Those were uncharectiristics errors
fineleg Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 He is still a great fileder. Those were uncharectiristics errors Not just in this ODI dsr...it is also in the Test series, KKD missed catches while fielding (slips or otherwise). He did take one good catch in the slips, but he dropped some in the Test series.
King Tendulkar Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 yes he did drop a couple in tests. However his energy/athleticism in the field and his stops and hunger to want the ball was superb. I feel those drops were out of charcter as generally is very good at catches.
abhinav Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 GC was the first guy who made the future call for karthick as skipper, that was even before Karthick was getting recognition as a batsman..
King Tendulkar Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Thats cos his attitude is spot on. You can see that in the way he plays
Sachinism Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Seriously WTF, how can you ever see Karthik as captain
