Guess whose words?

We havent produced a better captain than Dhoni since we started playing cricket. As a cricketer you can debate his abilities a lot, but as a leader I dont think he should still be unfairly targeted.

Gambhir is going through "poor form" since 2010. Sehwag has only done something of note against a "first class" NZ side that too at home since 2010. Two years and 20 Test matches of "poor form". :cantstop:
Gambhir had a good southafrica series which was at the end of 2010 and his best knock same in the new year test .He struggled with injuries in england .Shewag had great home series against sa in 2010 followed by good series in srilanka and agianst nz .He has played 12 tests after 2010 not 20 in last 2 years.

Ganesh' date=' Why do you bring up technical issues? I don't think Sehwag's technique is any as good as MS Dhoni. Yes, Sehwag as a better pedigree as a batsman but you can't keep backing players who do nothing for you in 20 Test matches based on pedigree. Also, it is unfair to have the expectations of 40 plus averages from a WK batsman. We don't have one or may not even get one.[/quote'] Sehwag's technique has never been an issue. If something its over-reliance on hand-eye coordination to compensate for his lack of footwork early on in his innings. Other than that, Sehwag has brilliant balance, never does his head fall away while playing shots, it is perfectly still. Also he has a very good defense. One doesnt play the kind of innings he has played with poor fundamentals. Dhoni doesnt need to average 40+ to be a good batsmen. All he has to do is hang in there and fight. Prasanna Jayawardene did this few times in England and UAE, those are the kind of knocks one looks forward to from a WK-batsmen who bats at number 7.

Injuries is an excuse - I can say MS Dhoni struggled with fatigue etc. but those are arguments are built of straw. Sehwag had a good series against SL home/away and the triple hundred against SA boosted his average in early 2010. Since those series or basically after the WC - neither Gambhir or Sehwag have done anything of note.

Fair enough point. Do you think he did at in the NZ Test match?

Gambhir had freak injuries in england .missed 2nd test and then Got hit on the head in the last test and kudos to him for batting in the condition he was.

Never doubted Gambhir's commitment.

According to Dhoni haters, 1) when Dhoni does well and India wins, it's a team game, his performances were irrelevant, we would have won had he even scored nothing. With that kind of logic, it makes little sense to debate here. As they will only do selective analysis by totally ignoring all the positives and only focusing on the few failures which happens to every other player.
