mister Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Usain Bolt likes to watch Sachin, Gayle Asked whether he followed cricket, Bolt was emphatic in his response. “Of course, I do,†he said and added that he loved watching Chris Gayle and Sachin Tendulkar bat Bangalore: If you are not already a fan of Usain “Lightning†Bolt for his twin records at the Olympics and his Caribbean demeanour, here is something that would definitely make him the Apple of every Indian cricket fan’s eye! The 22-year-old who scorched the Beijing tracks with his astounding pace says he is a cricket lover and a huge fan of our own Little Master Sachin Tendulkar. That he is a cricket fan cannot come as a surprise, given that Bolt hails from the Caribbean island of Jamaica. In fact, he revealed that cricket was his first love before he decided to switch sport and take up athletics. But, his naming Sachin as one of his two favourite cricketers – the other being Chris Gayle of the West Indies – comes as a surprise indeed as Bolt had commented after his 100-M gold win that he loved watching Mathew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist of Australia bat. Asked whether he followed cricket, Bolt was emphatic in his response. “Of course, I do,†he said and added that he loved watching Chris Gayle and Sachin Tendulkar bat. “I like the way he plays,†he was quoted as saying by the Deccan Herald newspaper. At six-feet and five inches, Bolt admits that he would have been a good bet for the beleaguered West Indian team, given that he “batted and bowled†in his early teens before switching over to the tracks. Wonder how Sachin would react to his latest fan? Maybe, he would have felt sorry world cricket lost a fast bowler who could have done the West Indies proud and made it to the pantheon of greats like Marshall, Garner, Holding and Roberts. Cricket’s loss has definitely been Athletics’ gain! Source: India Syndicate:yay:
CSK Fan Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 The original article i saw was Track star Usain Bolt wants to catch up with Matthew Hayden THE fastest man on the planet wants to come to Australia and is keen on meeting one of our cricketing stars. Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt yesterday confirmed his desire to visit Australia and possibly compete this summer. "I can't wait to come to Australia and I'm trying to find a way to get down there because it sounds great and you're fun people," Bolt said. "And one of my favourite cricketers in the world is from your way. I am a huge fan of Matty Hayden and he's a cool customer out in the middle and I like his style." Most of the international media listening to Bolt's interview didn't know who Hayden was and were intrigued to know what role he played in cricket. "Is he a batter or a pitcher and is he big in your country?," a reporter asked. Hayden was last night stunned when told of Bolt's praise. "It's pretty humbling isn't it for an old fisherman and surfer in Queensland who now and then plays a bit of cricket," Hayden said. "It's an amazing achievement and to be mentioned is something I'm very proud about and I can't believe he even said that." Bolt is a cricket fanatic and played the sport as a teenager in the cricket loving Caribbean island. Hayden has never met the dual gold medallist and was flattered his name was mentioned just moments after Bolt broke Michael Johnson's 12-year-old world record in the 200m.. "Just to see him dance and carry on is truly inspirational and for him to have me in his mind is just so humbling," Hayden told Channel 7. "Imagine waking up in the morning and someone asks what do you for a gig mate? "Well, I'm the fastest man who's ever run on this earth and I reckon that would be a pretty good feeling. "They love their cricket and Jamaica is full of cricketers who we've enjoyed over the years and he can definitely come out and say g'day anytime he likes. "He obviously loves cricket and it's so healthy to know I can be here and he can be there and we can mutually enjoy each others sports." Hayden intends sending Bolt a signed cricket bat and wants to meet the Jamaican speed machine when he visits Australia. "It's just the pure adrenalin seeking mission of being the fastest man on earth and it's a phenomenal achievement and we're all very proud of him as well,'' Hayden said. Bolt's rivals were yesterday still stunned at the Jamaican's record breaking week at the Birds Nest. "He's a bad guy and a bad dude because I just can't fathom how anyone can run that fast," Athens Olympic champion and bronze medallist Shawn Crawford said Source:The Australian Reply With Quote

maaki Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 His demenour after the races reminded me of Ben Johnson.. He looked doped up during his races.. After the Track and Field dope scandals in USA i have doubts any body especially in high performance sports like Athletics is clean..

Cricketics Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I would love to see Gayle and Sehwag together open the innings and both staying not out for atleast 10 overs.
