One of the biggest ironies of recent times is Mr.Romney calling those who do not pay taxes as lazy people who do not take responsibility for their lives, even while exploiting every single available loop-hole in the tax code to get millions of dollars worth of deductions and choosing to indulge in all sorts shady, tax-evading tactics like moving money to tax-havens abroad. I think it is beyond hilarious how this man who called half of the country's population as moochers, even while continues to evade the question of releasing his tax returns over the previous decade, fully knowing that it will expose all of his dirty tax evading tactics. Who cares what is in Mitt's tax returns the last 2 years, the two years he fully knew he was going to run for President. Lets see his tax return from 2004 and see what it has to tell the American people.

Not really. It is very clear that his smartness doesn't extend much beyond what he was supposedly good at. He is basically wearing a giant mask to hide the real Mitt. The basic issue here is that he is incredibly disconnected from the realities of so called 99%, and no amount of posturing is going to change it. Unfortunately for him, he is a terrible actor, has poor self-control and cannot help but **** out his real personality every once in a while.

All Politicians have weaknesses, but I would expect someone like Mitt Romney, a super-sophisticated, super-suave, ex Wall Street boss/governor of a big, important state to a) to know what those weaknesses are and b)put enough guard-rails around those weaknesses to make sure it does not hurt him. Put the vicious cycle of endless verbal flubs and missteps seems never ending. Can you imagine the sheer number of super-smart people, even within his own company Bain, who could have given him solid advice on how to do this? Either Mitt Romney is just plain incompetent or he is playing this zen-game that one metaphysical level above all of us. When you're already perceived as an out-of-touch zillionaire who cannot connect with middle-class americans, the last thing you'd want to do is to open your mouth and say '47% of people in this country are not responsible', even if is in the living-room of your rich buddies. And to think this guy has been running for some form of a political office or the other for the last 2 decades!

Reagan did it, everyone else should do that for every recession until the taxes are 0, there is no regulation and one has the libertarian dream i.e. Somalia. Add guns & religion to the mix like Somalia & its a conservative's heaven.

It would take sustained economic growth to have that kind of increase. Its close to 4% of the entire population of the US. Few years ago, I had read in a magazine that it takes 1 crore investment in the manufacturing industry to create one job. In the US I would imagine the number to be much more. For that kind of investment to come up, the government would have to give huge tax breaks to corporates to expand. Even after the tax breaks, the businesses would actually have to be profitable for the created jobs to be sustained in the long term

^ Heard Clinton once in an interview talk about $1 billion investment in labor intensive industries like construction creating 6-7k jobs. This was while there was talk of an infrastructure fund. Obviously, that's the best possible estimate of a given industry, in general the overall number's gonna be less than that.
