Others I think are very good include Jonny Depp, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton. Matt Damon and Benn Affleck are good as well as lead actors. However Steve Buscemi as an actor is my personal favorite. Tim Robbins is another good actor. Ben affleck is a terrible actor though :cantstop: . Kein smith himself has said this right infront of him. He normally takes more shots than required yet he would look expressionless. But he is a good director though.
Lurker Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Infact in lot of the roles i really detest Leonardo. He makes the movie so dull without manliness. I never liked him in Departed. Shutter island was interesting because of plot ot because of Leonardo. He happened to be in some major movies of Martin. Otherwise he would have been forgotten long back. He gave life to him. He was the weakest link in the movie for sure. I am not sure what it is about LDC. He is a good actor but does not cut the muster as a great. In a way he is like a Keanue Reeves or a Patrick Swayze. Both having a terrific range of movies, including some with great acting (Swayze for example in City of Joy), but in the end they were all good looking actors who somehow never were manly enough (argument is quite open) and in the end never became a DeNiro. Of course I may be too harsh on all three of them :winky::winky:

Lot of his roles required display of masculinity. Let me put this way. charlize theron would make my bone chill more than Leonardo in a fight.

He is much better than them., I wouldn't call him the greatest of our generation, but unlike the academy members, he is well liked by the public for his acting alone. Just because he looks good, doesn't mean he acts bad. KR and PS were considered non-actors, made fun of in SNL and other stand-up acts. IMO, the weakest link in Departed was the script/director. It was MS's worst movie in terms of direction. Why did he have to go for a remake? Plus he gets his Oscar for this one.

I mean I do not expect LDC to do a Metrix do you? Or Dirty Dancing? Or Replacements. I do not. Different roles, different personalities. So maybe you can call LDC a better actor (although I am yet to see him play a role aka City of Joy) but I think as a performer he will pale in front of KS and PS. Fair?

He plays out some intense characters which can't be performed by others on the same scale. For some it appears fake and un-manly. Like Jack Nicholson. I know some people who hate him very much. I guess they call it cult following.

Thought I liked him in Swadesh too. So maybe it is what Yoda had already mentioned, there are no great actors but just great directors. :winky::winky:

On Leo his choice of movies is just too good. Edward Norton gets my vote for the best actor of this generation. He was terrific in American History X and 25th Hour.
