Good call, right up there. Daniel Day Lewis (not sure if him or Tom Hanks count as the 'same generation' as Di Cap) might take the absolute top spot though L Di C is probably more versatile...? Turning point for him insofar as being a 'serious' actor was Catch me if you can, since then ist has mostly been a string of Commercial and critical hits

I feel he is a bit one dimensional to be counted in all time greats. In most of his famous acts, he played role of impulsive, loose temper young man. I am not sure if he has been tested enough in more versatile roles. But for our generation he can be right up there. Who else would be in competition? Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks?

On topic. One of my favorite actor from younger generation. However, its not just because of his 'versatility' in acting skills. He happened to work with best directors of current era. As bangladeshifan said, even Al Pacino has had his 'unidimensional' approach to majority of his roles. Look at bollywood's greatest actor too SRK.. :vroam:

Oh yes...definitely up there. He has been selective about his roles and he can be proud of having one of the best filmographies for his age.
