CSK Fan
then how did he won 50 over WC :finger: Because it was on home pitches where his strategy works. Even in England he can use his spinners. Would be difficult in Aussie pitches Link to comment

ThePhenomenal1
- He mishandles potentially matchwinning bowlers - Uses spinners in death overs who got tonked, imagine maxwell and bailey going at these guys - Doesn't back his pacers whereas kohli and raina as captain spoke to their players - Laughing and saying well done to jadeja despite the selfish knock - No accountability - Lets games drift. fact is, bowlers win you matches. When he runs things, bowlers concede almost 300 unless spinners do well and batsmen make blunders. Link to comment

King Tendulkar
Umesh Yadav is a match winning bowler? Wow:hysterical: Wether he would be or not. Should not a skipper use him in right way to try and get best from him. Like he does for Ishant!!! Its almost as if he does not want yadav to do well so to keep a space for his beloved Ishant Link to comment
DarthSimian
It is not like this is his first match. He has 32 ODI caps and you cannot deny that he was being misused earlier. He has not had a single matchwinning performance since 2010 - all his 3-wicket hauls have been either WI or Bangladesh. It is easy to blame Dhoni for everything. You just come across as a sad, whining guy. Link to comment

If you get cricket you would get whats going on and how a young fast bowler has no chance with this usage. Which of course exactly what dhoni wants, for him to have no chance Link to comment

Captain treats him like ab unwanted entity. Even when he is bowling well, taken of no for no reason. He went for runs in 2 overs yesterday one in PP and one in slog overs that to 10-12 runs which people are making like he went for 30 runs per over. Those are the most difficult overs for someone who is coming back and is low in confidence. He was taken off twice while bowling well not giving him a decent spell to get back in any sort of rhythm. Throw your myopic and opportunistic excuses out. U Yadav had a bad performance not due to Dhoni but because he is a mediocre bowler. No control, no accuracy. Link to comment

Throw your myopic and opportunistic excuses out. U Yadav had a bad performance not due to Dhoni but because he is a mediocre bowler. No control, no accuracy. Except criticism of Yadav does not mean NOT criticizing Dhoni's ridiculous taactics which you guys are intentionally trying to overlook for some weird reason IF a player is selcted in the team, he should be BACKED no matter what. Or do not play him at all Almost everyone in the world has criticized Dhoni's use of Yadav. This has nothing to do with how good or bad he is. Truth is, he WAS bowling well when he was taken off. He was used in one over spell. Whether it is Agarkar or Kuruvilla, no one deserves such treatment. And this is not the first time he has done this, Binny is the exact case All the excuses I see here is you trying to divert attention from the topic of this thread, which is Dhoni's captaincy and trying to pass the blame onto a young bowler when it is clearly the tactics of the captain which is being discussed. Just because someone was in great form a year ago or wasn't in form 6 months back should not decide how he is used in THIS match Link to comment

CSK Fan
Umesh Yadav is a match winning bowler? Wow:hysterical: Clearly you have no idea how fast bowlers work so stop making yourself look ridiculous. And yes, Yadav is already a match-winner in tests so clearly you are ignorant as well Look at how Wasim was backed in his initial years Look at how Akhtar was backed in ODIs though tests were his strong point Yadav has shown enough potential in one format to show he is special. Why cannot he take to another format? Most good players do, most fast bowlers do. It is extremely simplistic to label a player as one format specialist when he can quickly learn skills in another format as far as he has the basic Link to comment
CSK Fan
Yadav was "backed" during the champions trophy and sucked. end of discussion. Yes because backing = letting him play couple of matches. Great logic. Again this discussion is about Dhoni's tactics with young player in THIS match, which is nothing to do with who the player was. If someone is bowling or batting good in current match, do you suddenly remember champion's trophy and take him out? What kind of logic is this? Or did you not even see the name of the thread and come to say,"Yadav is expensive, yada, yada, again?" Link to comment

That excluding the warms ups for the champions trophy. He was the only weak link in the Indian bowling attack. Tells you a lot when Ishant sharma outbowls you. And lets be frank, he bowled ok up front. You make it sound as if he was on a hattrick. Link to comment

And once again only commenting on Yadav's performance when this thread is about Dhoni's captaincy and his handling of young players. Forget Yadav, I would not wish this treatment on RP Singh What happened in Champions trophy had no relevance to how he was treated in SA or in this match. Either you do not pick him at all or if picked, at least let him bowl properly Link to comment
