Cook vs Kohli

Tests: Has to be Cook. Kohli quickly catching up though. ODI's: Kohli but Cook was very impressive against the Pakistani spinners in UAE (rarity for an England player) T20Is: Don't think Cook even plays T20s (?)

There are no similarities between these two from batting order to approach, age, role.. etc. Cook probably can be compared with Gautam Gambhir. Similar amount of experience, both openers. etc.

Kohli hasn't played enough tests. But his batting looks better than Cook's.
lol u got it all wrong cook is technically very sound and usually looks right out of the textbook. kohli often looks unorthodox.

cook is the better batsman. kohli will struggle when he runs out of luck
That is disrespectful. You can be lucky 1ce,2wice,3rice.. but not as consistently as Kohli has been in ODIs

lmao kohli kills cook in odi's and T20. Cant believe retards compare him to cook in odi's and t20. In tests cant compare cuz kohli didnt even play 1/4 of what cook has.

In terms of style Kohli has touch of flair and authority. Cook is an old fashioned English batsman with good technique and temperament. Kohli is a better player against spin. Cook a better player against pace. Btw.. cricinfo used to have player comparison option. is there any way we can do that with current design?

I was talking about aesthetics, Laxman wasn't the most technically sound batsman, but he looked better than many. Similarly Kohli has a flair, Cook hasn't.

Cook's technique has lots of chinks which can be exploited as the SAffers showed. He's more in the Gambhir mode. As for Kohli, he's been godly in the LOIs till now. But, tests are something which he needs to stamp his authority. Kohli is still young, let's wait before coming up with all kinds of comparisons.

Gambhir's problem is concentration lapses. after good starts he edges one to the keeper/slip thinking it's Odi or t20 while Cook has good temperament. But I agree, Cook's technique is not weakness free. Poor off the pads against Inswingers then not good against spinners.

Apart from concentration, Gambhir for the past 1 year or so, has gone back to the original weakness he had i.e of playing away from his body or poking at deliveries.

:WTF: Kohli is probably the one of the most technically sound batsman in the world atm. If anything Aus tour proved he has the talent to succeed. Sure his form may dip later, even Sachin went through bad periods.. Enough with this luck bs really..
