Impressive thing about Ishwar Pandey is the improvement he has shown since last season. He has worked on his action, looks to have gained better control and also is a couple of yards quicker. His namesake Ishwar Chaudhary of Gujrat, who looked like a great prospect last year (similar built, height, action and even pace) seems to have regressed and is struggling this season. Good thing is all these guys are relatively young and still have time to have a strong season and come into national contention.

I wonder whether I Chaudhuri has deteriorated because he was overbowled last season.

Sandeep Warrior. I was thinking on the same lines. Deceptively quick means he must be thin and wiry but bowls lively like Lee and Zahid were at that age, might not be as quick but still sharp.

Watched him bowl in both innings and though he bowls quite a few lose deliveries to be considered for international cricket immediately, he certainly has a lot of basics going for him. His outswinger is brilliant and that's a huge plus point. With his height he gets extra bounce and his natural length seems to a foot or so fuller than Ishant which means he will get edges more often than Ishant. However, this is the point where these bowlers need proper guidance and training and this is the point where India have lost so many pace bowlers over the past few years as a combination of lack of infrastructure, training, and the bowlers' own indifferent attitude. One can hope that this guy can step up to the next level through A tours. He should be a must pick for the upcoming A tours. As for his speed, the speed guns were showing him to be around 132-133 on average which is not bad so deep into the season and bowling long spells. More importantly, he seemed to hurry most batsmen once every few deliveries and certainly has the ability to bowl 135+ average speeds which is good enough if he can work a bit more on his control.

Too many quicks coming thru atm... can't even keep track lol ..... hopefully at least 5 of them can make it to the national team and provide good value over the years. Nadeem has been the most consistent spinner this season but he is playing in crap division i think... what about the tall mumbai spinner?

Having watched a lot of domestic matches live this season, the bowlers IMO who need to be groomed or given chances are Pandey, Shami and Pankaj, the rest are just junk. Pankaj is very tall and could be a handful with his increased pace and swing. I find it doubtful to believe that Pandey is bowling just 132, he seems very nippy off the wicket. He would be more effective with a good bowling unit, who can sustain pressure. Shami IMO seems to be the most talented of the lot, not that tall than the other two, but definitely not a midget like Dinda. Only worry about Shami for me is the way he runs to the wicket, I think he will be having hamstring issues in the future. Need to get good guidance on conditioning the weaker and overused muscles, like they did with RP Singh when he was playing County cricket. RP came back a totally different bowler after that county stint, more speed and control but later petered out due to his callous attitude towards fitness.

REPORT FROM HINDU DATED 25 - 12 - 12 On a hot Monday afternoon, Sandeep Warrier proved just too hot to handle. In a sensational spell of pace bowling, the 21 year old picked up six for 44. It was one of the best performances of pace bowling I have seen in domestic cricket in recent times said Jharkand coach Tarik Sinha, who has produced Test bowlers like Manoj Prabjakar, Atul Wasan, Ashish Nehra and Sanjeev Sharma. "I have not seen a pace bowler like Sandeep in the Ranji Trophy for a long time? High praise indeed and those who saw Sandeep tearing through the Jharkand top order on a wicket that was increasingly becoming easier for batting would not disagree with that assessment.. Sandeep yorked a couple of batsmen with sheer pace, removed Saurabh Tiwary with a ball that moved away considerably and dismissed a confident looking Ishank Jaggi at 90 with a ball which rose nastily. It was all heady stuff. He finished with match figures of 8-82, his second consecutive eight wicket haul. He has now taken 22 wickets from four matches. The kerala team-management must be ruing its decision not to play him for three matches.

Another one to take note of ASHISH REDDY (ALLROUNDER) from Hyderabad. He is one of the fiercest strikers of a cricket ball going around in domestic cricket. He has raised his game a few notches this season, especially his bowling. Consistency of selection has helped him raise his game a lot.

Among spinners there is just one to take note of seriously and he is a good allround prospect too. PARVEZ RAZOOL OF J & K. According to Bishen Bedi he is simply the best off spinner in the country. He too has raised his game this season to an higher level. watch out this guy folks. Please dont be fooled by his statistics as a bowler as it depends on lot many helping factors. For spinners especially figures cannot be the sole criteria (classic example of SHABAZ NADEEM this season-he is nothing more than a trundler- and Brahmabhat two seasons back). Just watch Rakesh Dhruv of Gujarat, according to knowledgeable observers he is easily the best left arm spinner going around in domestic circuit, but as i said earlier lots of extraneous factors comes into play other than pure skill for a spinner to get noticed. To continue with the matter. Dont get excited by what Ankeet Chauhan did with his 9fer against Punjab as he is just yet another left arm trundler who thrives on certain factors without holding out even an iota of promise. same is the case with ali murtaza 7fer against Tamil Nadu.

To continue with spinners topic. The Mumbai associations or selectors attitude towards spinners has been befuddling. For example S Goriavale an highly promising leg spinner has been left feeling so worthless this season match after match, while Romesh Powar, such a spent force as of now has been given chance after chance this season so shamelessly. the selectors didnt even have the gumption to try Goriavale even in single match as Powar was not even a mere passenger for 4 straight matches. What makes the matter so grave is that Goriavale was Mumbais most impressive bowler during the pre season tournaments like buch babu/Moinuddin etc. One strongly feels after watching the Mumbai selection policies for the last few years that it has to be one of the most regressive state associations in India. Sad thing is that this is happening even under the new committee headed by ABey kuruvilla.(lucky he didnt become an Indian selector)
