It would be humorous to see Don Bradman get the Bharat Ratna. Unlike Aussie Civilian Awards, the Bharat Ratna is generally contributed for tangible contribution to the society. Or that's what it was meant to be. One generally doesn't get civilian decorations for hunting crocodiles on TV in India. Bradman would be a poor choice anyways. He's not even won his team a world cup, and most of his high scores have come against the English. The English, of all teams.

It is given to people who made a change in the society, but nowadays it is given to politicians. The first artist to get it is Satyajit Ray. No sportsperson has been awarded yet, so it is not the same as MBE, seems like it is an honorary award. Hayden seems to think he deserves it before Sachin maybe.
