bablankalhan Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 In a surprise move in the dead rubber at Kingsmead, Suresh Raina walked out for the toss as Chennai Super Kings captain even though MS Dhoni was in the XI. It was the first time in 92 matches for Super Kings that Dhoni has played but not captained the side. It was not just from captaincy that Dhoni was taking a break; he was also not expected to be the wicketkeeper, with Wridhhiman Saha taking over. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Raina said he hoped to use Dhoni's seam-up bowling for at least a couple of overs. http://www.espncricinfo.com/champions-league-twenty20-2012/content/current/story/587637.html
anotherhawkeye Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Interesting. How did he qualify purely as a batsman? Oh well, the dude deserves a break!
bablankalhan Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Finally Dhoni has been replaced as captain....are Indian selectors watching ?
1983-2011 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 hopefully he will develop in to a 150 km/h bowler and we will get very our own Garry Sobers:pray:
SLICKR392 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Lets hope Raina does well as the captain. Remember Windies? He comes in, tries to slog and gets out.
Sandeep99 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Indian cricket is going to dogs for sure! Dhoni and now Raina...
BeautifulGame Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Indian cricket is going to dogs for sure! Dhoni and now Raina... :hysterical: Thats some ignorance:hysterical:
namasteji1 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Raina did a good job, give him some time and he will be a legendary captain!
PaceAttack Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Dhoni without captaincy is a very dangerous batsman. I like the idea of sending him up the order which will definitely allow him to play his natural game.

JourneyMan Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Dhoni is turning kingmaker. He's paving the way for Raina's future captaincy. His heart never really seemed to be in T20 captaincy, and it makes sense for him to free himself of the burden and concentrate on other formats.
cricketpitch Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Raina is the right choice for T20. Besides him only Kohli and Yuvraj are the only certainties in the T20 team. We don't want Kohli to be anywhere close to captaincy at the moment, the right choice is Raina. He is probably the best player for India in the T20 format.
Crookbond Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I think he's a serious contender now, the selection committee have picked him as India A captain as well.
