BBC joins Sky in BCCI broadcast wrangle

Atherton is not a TMS commentator. He is part of the sky team. He may be in India because he also writes for the Times newspaper here and so needs to be out in India, but he is unlikely to do any comms. sky i.e. Bumble & co are planning to do off tube comms from London. Meaning watch tv and do commentary. TMS team will consist of Jonathan Agnew, Geoffrey boycott, Henry blofeld, Sunny Gavaskar, one other Indian radio guy. TMS is BBC radio commentary.

New Zealand's Radio Sport will not be broadcasting live commentary from the ground for New Zealand's two Tests in Sri Lanka after the radio station failed to come to an agreement over the cost of broadcasting rights with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Terming the deal as "expensive," Dallas Gurney, the radio's general manager of talk, said the price SLC asked wasn't cost-effective for the network. NZC chief executive David White said the money being asked was "way above anything they'd [Radio Sport] done before." "My understanding is what they were being requested to pay was significantly more than they've ever had to pay before. It was very challenging for them commercially," White was quoted as saying in Fairfax NZ News. "Our tour just recently to India was reasonable and not an issue, and it was covered. I don't know why in this instance it's so expensive and, hopefully, it's just a one-off." The episode, which has parallels to the recent standoff between the BCCI and the BBC over the cost of radio broadcast rights, will not affect the stations' plans to broadcast live from New Zealand's tour of South Africa that starts in December and the tour of England next year. "We've still got South Africa to come [in December-January] and Bryan Waddle [the radio's commentator] will be going to South Africa. We've pretty much got the rights sorted for that. And England after that, we'll have ball-by-ball coverage of that tour as well."

This is quite stupid actually. I don't know why they have a problem with cameramen on the grounds.
Rather than being stupid BCCI is using quite dangerous arm twisting tactis imo. They already control the production house and if everyone else is barred from taking images and have to download from BCCI then they will virtually control every form of visual medium concerning cricket in India. If a controversy for example erupts onfield they can choose to release will image / video to release and how to manipulate opinions imo. Its blatant disregard for freedom of press and Indians. Maybe iam completely off target in regards to interpretation of this issue but dont think its healthy for Indian cricket or fans imo. BCCI are ultimately only custodians of cricket in India not owners.Hopefully media can force BCCI to withdraw the ridiculous rules

TMS will have a box in India and so would Sky. Bumble can sit home and get blow jobs from the hookers at London while drinking beer - too much attitude.

You are spot on there. They have tried this earlier too and failed.
