Clarke Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 the worst part is that they have sent me 2 emails in the last 5 days stating that there have been delays and my application is still in progress but please dont contact us. WTF Im supposed to do when the flight is booked for this Saturday :dontknow: . I Started the process a moth ago and they have had this application on thier desk for nearly 3 weeks :wall: Just a month back :headshake: I don't do that with a Canadian tourist visa from US!
EnterTheVoid Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Dude not only that' date=' its also going to cost me 4-5k for cancelling tickets as I will get no refund.[/quote'] These are return tickets for your wife and daughter if I understand correctly? VFS recommend you book the tickets only after getting the visa first, they don't accept any liability for losses occurred because of this. See if you can reimbursed from your travel insurance company.
punjabi_khota Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Canadian tourist visa official time is one month!!! @&*(@)#IKJD
Desi Cartman Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 Just a month back :headshake: I don't do that with a Canadian tourist visa from US! they state 2 weeks and I even confirmed that over the phone
nballa Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 corruption and greed is in your genes, you need to learn to accept your heritage and who you are.
cricket_usa Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 About a year ago I had to renew my passport and get a visa for my daughter and as per the instruction on the website I mailed them both in and booked my tickets. But after reading all the horror stories on the internet about the Indian consulate service in Houston, I decided to take a trip out there to check on my status. Peope were lined up at 5 am and eventhough they had the number dispenser it was not used and everyone rushed and got in line like they use do in our city bus. When my turn came the lady in the counter was able to dig thru a pile of fedex packages and take mine out and it was not opened eventought I had sent it a month ago. I have to give them credit, because when I told her of my situation she was able to get me a new passport the same day. They have outsourced the visa processing to Travista.
anotherhawkeye Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 ^ They always give priority to those who show up in person. If you send it via mail, then good luck. My PIO request was processed after 8 months, with all my attempts to communicate with them failing miserably. During those 8 months, I didn't even know if they received my documents or misplaced them. Indian consulate is among the worst in the world and exemplifies everything about Indian bureaucracy.
Clarke Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Indian consulate is among the worst in the world and exemplifies everything about Indian bureaucracy. Precisely! When dealing with Bharat Sarkar in any manner, just assume there will be multiple problems along the way and try & plan way ahead. Multi-billion dollar businesses cant get approvals for years, we're just ordinary people.
