maniac Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Post fun tidbits and records here.... Let me start of with one of my fav cricketers Kapil Dev scored the first ODI century for India and what an innings that was, the famous 175* against Zim at turn bridge wells :hail:...That was also his last ODI 100  Kapil also took the 1st 5 wicket haul for India in ODI's :hail: again that was his last 5wkt haul  The 2nd 5 wicket haul for India came from one of the forgotten cricketers of Indian cricket S.K Sharma and that too a bowling analysis of 5/26 against a then mighty Westindies
maniac Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 More facts- Sir Aggy has the most 4 wits hauls by an Indian bowler at 10 followed by Anil Kumble at 8....also Sir Aggy is tied with 8 other people as the 2nd highest number of 5 wits hauls at 2 which includes names such as Robin Singh,Saurav Ganguly,SRT and Kris Srikkanth -Is it time to bump the Sir Aggy thread but nevertheless a very underrated ODI bowler for India

maniac Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 MS Dhoni has a great chance of creating a record for the most Not outs in international cricket across all 3 formats-MSD has 80 Notouts already....MSD is 11th on the list in which there are only 2 active international cricketers in Kallis at 97 and Chanderpaul at 85 With Shiv C only available for test cricket, his only competition is from Kallis..... The leaders of the pack are Murali at 119 and Pollock at 113 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=11;filter=advanced;orderby=notouts;outs=0;template=results;type=batting
Precambrian Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 When MS has stayed notout chasing in an ODI, India has always won!
Precambrian Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Tendulkar is the only man who has played cricket at well over 50 test grounds (59 to be precise). If one adds up his performance in his top 20 grounds (by average, which is 10 more grounds than Bradman played throughout his career), it translates to : Grounds : 20 Matches: 53 Innings : 82 NO : 20 Runs : 6706 Avg : 106.44 100s : 31 50s : 18 Ducks : 0 Add the next best ground and it becomes: grounds : 21 Matches : 57 Innings : 89 NOs: 21 Runs 7028 Avg : 103.35 100s: 32 50s : 19 0s : 3
Precambrian Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 The grounds are : Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka - Bangladesh Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka - Bangladesh Multan Cricket Stadium - Pakistan Headingley, Leeds - England Old Trafford, Manchester - England Sydney Cricket Ground - Australia SuperSport Park, Centurion - South Africa R.Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama, Colombo - Sri Lanka K.D.Singh 'Babu' Stadium, Lucknow - India Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo - Zimbabwe Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo - Sri Lanka Vidarbha C.A. Precambrian Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 http://www.espncricinfo.com/commonwealth-bank-series-2012/engine/current/match/518960.html Maybe you should have rephrased it as never lost :--D haha true... thanks for correcting!
maniac Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Also another fun fact....Starting From our WC victory to current date.... our No 2 and No 3 Highest wicket takers are 2 of the stalwarts of ICF Sir Jadeja and Vinny... No 1 is Ashwin who obviously has been our best bowler since then....Infact surprisingly Vinay has a decent average of 30.88 and Jaddu playing as an all rounder has a decent average of 33.75 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=wickets;spanmin1=03+apr+2011;spanval1=span;team=6;template=results;type=bowling
maniac Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 Probably one of the most intriguing case in Australian cricket......Anthony Stuart took a fifer which included a hatrick against Pakistan in his 3rd odi.......final analysis of 5/26 and never played for Australia again One of the most bizarre careers.....Can you imagine the amount of free passes he would have gotten if he was a subcontinent player leave alone Indian based on this performance http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/content/player/7691.html Here are the match details http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65552.html
SLICKR392 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 When MS has stayed notout chasing in an ODI' date=' India has always won![/quote'] :nice: Awesome!
maniac Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 ^ etched in my memory as I remember watching the game on tv.....if I remember correctly aus open tennis was happening around the same time
Precambrian Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Probably one of the most intriguing case in Australian cricket......Anthony Stuart took a fifer which included a hatrick against Pakistan in his 3rd odi.......final analysis of 5/26 and never played for Australia again One of the most bizarre careers.....Can you imagine the amount of free passes he would have gotten if he was a subcontinent player leave alone Indian based on this performance http://www.espncricinfo.com/usa/content/player/7691.html Here are the match details http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65552.html Not really... Vivek Razdan took a fifer in just his second and eventually last test innings (http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63516.html) and never played again! And that too a fifer against Pakistan in 89!
Precambrian Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 The strange case of Deepak Shodhan (http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/34007.html) He holds the record for having the highest average ever in test cricket by an Indian. 60.33 He is the first Indian to score a debut hundred in his first innings! And that too coming in at no.8 when India were 179-6 and eventually helped them get to 397 vs Pakistan in the 5th test match of 52-53 series at Calcutta. Toured WI after that and made a 45 and 11. In the last match he was sick, yet went in at no.10, hung in for a gutsy 15* and saved the test match. And then he was never picked again! Apparently he is the one among the 5 oldest living Indian test cricketers. Here's a good article on him, where he vents his frustration at some of his team mates who apparently threw their wickets away to deny him his debut test ton! http://www.mid-day.com/sports/2012/oct/181012-Some-of-my-teammates-threw-their-wickets-to-deny-me-a-test-debut-ton.htm

Crookbond Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hawkeye/Virtual Eye use the same technology they use to track missies. Its called "Kalman Filtering". I sincerely hope you meant missiles. "Kalman Filter" is a Linear Quadratic Estimation algorithm and widely sued in many applications including speech processing, weather forecasting etc.
