Imran Khan's party demands hanging of Sarabjit in retaliation for Kasab's hanging NEW DELHI: Following the quick and secret execution of terrorist Ajmal Kasab in Pune on Wednesday, former cricketer Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded the hanging of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in retaliation who has been convicted and sentenced to death on terrorism charges in Pakistan, reports Times Now. In a demonstration organized by the party in Multan, PTI leader Naeemullah Khan said, "India waited for less than a month after the final verdict by their judiciary and we are protecting the terrorists for the last eight years." Blaming the Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, he said that the president was the biggest hurdle to execution of terrorists on death row in the country. Sarabjit Singh has been on death row for over two decades. India and Sarabjit's family maintains that he is innocent who happened to stray over the international border in an ebriated state and his was a case of mistaken identity. After Kasab was hanged yesterday, former Supreme Court judge and Press Council of India chairman Markandey Katju wrote a letter to the prime minister and president of Pakistan appealing yet again for clemency for Sarabjit. Katju had argued Sarabjit's case vis-a-vis Kasab's and stressed how both the cases are different and why Sarabjit deserves a pardon. "You must have heard that Ajmal Kasab has been hanged in India. I wish to respectfully point out to you that this case is totally different from that of Sarabjit Singh who has been on death row in Pakistan for 21 years. About Kasab, there is no doubt about his guilt as he was caught red handed. However, there is great doubt about the guilt of Sarabjit Singh. So, the two cases are not similar," Katju said in the letter. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Imran-Khans-party-demands-hanging-of-Sarabjit-in-retaliation-for-Kasabs-hanging/articleshow/17323303.cms ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We treat this A##$H#@# like some sane voice from that country...he is the same as any other terrorist from that bloody nation.

So where do you draw the line? locking up a person like an animal in prison is inhumane too? May be we should not have any prisons and release few of the criminals into your house' date=' under your custody. Sounds good?[/quote'] Prisoners are not supposed be treated like animals. Even in case of rigourous imprisonment, they get involved in things. Don't assume too many things, when you don't know about me.

It is also in today's Hindustan Times paper on pg 4.
Yea but HT is the next TOI. Just twisting of words to create sensationalism according to all the evidences of news as of now. Here is the quote from the party leader.
"India waited for less than a month after the final verdict by their judiciary and we are protecting the terrorists for the last eight years," said PTI leader Naeemullah Khan.
No where does it say Sarabjit - it talks about terrorists and executing them quickly in Pakistan irrespective from where they are. Why would you empathize with terrorists in Pakistan even if they are Indian? Sarabjit may be an exception but there has been no talk or reference to him. It is time we stop behaving like "what we accuse Pakistan for".

It doesnt matter whether capital punishment acts as a deterrent or not what is more important is we dont want another kandhahar. I dont remember any of these organizations/people demanding removal of capital punishments rushing to the rescue of the India/Indians when the flight were hijacked or recapture the terrorist who we were forced to hand over.

Good Riddance and high time too. Unfortunately hundreds of Kasabs would be entering India with valid visas for the Pakistan series. He got a merciful death. I would have preferred him to be let loose in an enclosure with all the close relatives of the victims of 26/11.
If not KASabs atleast David Headleys would be entering on pretext of bieng a spectator only to film and mark spots for future attacks

I see a deeper problem there than capital punishment. Countires like Israel and US have a clear policy of never to negotiate with terrorists no matter who the hostages are. We also have to adopt a similar policy. Our goverment caved in too soon in that hijacking case, we could have tried to storm the plane

Those kind of policy does not exist in vacuum. You have to realize that an average Israeli man spends 3 years in Armed Forces, most of them more. It is also very common to see an American engaged in Defense Forces or Paramilitary groups ranging from Military Intelligence to domestic FBI kind. Most folks who have worked in US, for example, would be easily able to confirm how somebody within their team has been in Army, or reserves at some time. On the other hand we are a land of hot air. It would be interesting to see a raise of hands to see how many Indians here even considered or applied for a NDA, IMA, AFMC etc etc. :winky::winky: Do remember during Kandahar hijacking there was a pressure from Indian citizens, specially those whose family were on board the plane, to get the folks back without harm. That would not happen in the two countries you mentioned. It is not always the Govt. fault you see.

Not true. Look up Gilad Shalit etc etc.
