Which is the one key issue with Indian Cricket that should be resolved?

  1. 1.

    • Remove Srinivasan as BCCI president
    • Abolish IPL
    • Remove Dhoni from Captaincy
    • Force SRT to retire
    • Put Amarnath as BCCI head+Chief Selector and he will handle it
    • orchestrate a NOTW type of fake sting to ban Jaddu,Chawla,Bhajji,Yuvi
    • Have a fresh start-select x1 rookies for the next series
    • Remove Fletcher
    • Hire a coach in a Andy Flower kinda role with lots of power
    • Stop playing stronger cricket teams till we are reasy

So many threads,so many issues, let us see what we individually think is the biggest issue Also sorry for the long title...if mods can rename it in a more comapct way it will be appreciated. Oops my title was if you were given the power to do one thing for Indian cricket what would you do?

I think the following issue is the key, but I can not make head or tails of it Stop playing stronger cricket teams till we are reasy

lets look at all these options. my comments in bold Remove Srinivasan as BCCI president - wow. you might need some kind of supreme court injunction to achieve this. lets just assume it happens. what then? some other dumbass will become president and nothing will change? how about actually amending the constitution and clearly defining the extent of power a president can have? Abolish IPL - won't accomplish anything. IPL isn't a problem, as most countries have a T20 league. you WANT cricketers to make more money, thats only fair. the bigger issue is the conflict of interest that exists when you have the head of the board owning a stake in one of the franchises. thats gonna **** things up. franchises should be run independently, the board should act as nothing more than a custodian for the league. Remove Dhoni from Captaincy - this is a no brainer. more importantly, have different captains for different formats. Force SRT to retire - LOL. i think he is already getting the message. Put Amarnath as BCCI head+Chief Selector and he will handle it - meh. it doesnt matter who the chief of selectors is. whoever takes over should have his autonomy respected and the committee should be allowed to do their jobs. orchestrate a NOTW type of fake sting to ban Jaddu,Chawla,Bhajji,Yuvi - LOL Have a fresh start-select x1 rookies for the next series - this is gonna happen soon anyway. the team is rebuilding. the key issue here is to pick the RIGHT players with a long term outlook. very soon, you are gonna have a LOT of players making a case for selection, but separating the good ones from the duds is the key. Remove Fletcher - won't accomplish anything. his contract runs out soon Hire a coach in a Andy Flower kinda role with lots of power - tried something similar with greg chappell. this wouldn't work in india. competition is too big, too much cricket is being played. a coach needs to work under the captain and within the boundaries of the team. once you appoint the captain, ask him who he would want as a coach...then take it from there Stop playing stronger cricket teams till we are reasy - they are already pretty queasy

Remove President. Install a ceremonial president. Open new position of Chief Executive who shall not have any interest, link, or relationship with IPL. Judge Chief Executive on teams' achievement of objectives on bi-annual or 4 yearly period. Right now India cricket lacks a half-decent a manager.

Get rid of fickle fans. Politicans have billions of rupees. That does not stop them from stealing more money. Saying cricketers are getting lazy because of easy money from IPL is stupid. I think the amount of cricket has to reduce and we need a rotation policy to keep players fresh and hungry. Improve ranji pitches as well.

IPL is the root cause' date='the rest are just symptoms and consequences.[/quote'] Abolishing the IPL will cost jobs, a chance at a decent income and visiblity for "fringe" players - many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. It may save Test cricket for your and my viewing pleasure, but the cost will be heavy for 100s of players. Is it worth it? Not in my opinion. Moreover, the politics, power-trips and regionalism that plague Indian cricket today are nothing new. We were talking about these issues in the '80s, too. The IPL is just another twist in the argument. Until there is an overall culture of integrity and professionalism at all levels, it is status quo. We lucked out for a while - Dravid, Kumble, Ganguly, Laxman, Tendulkar, and even Dhoni were thorough professionals. Gary Kirsten was a through professional. Don't seem to have that anymore.

I am responding to the poll question objectively. We all know that IPL is here to stay and players make the easiest money there ever is. But its true;IPL is the cause.

The cause of what? Decline of test cricket? Possibly. But, that is not what the OP asked. It asked "what is the key issue with **Indian Cricket** that should be resolved?" There is nothing to resolve there - if one accepts that the IPL *is* Indian cricket.
