Enough with your game playing man. Here's a situation: Two cops find a couple under a bridge. They threaten/hit the boy and rape the girl. Guess place.
Mumbai .
Not sure what your point is. You will find rape cases in every city if you look for it. And yes, dirty cops do exist everywhere.

Couple of points here. a) Most Cops would know the majnu in their area. Incidents like this are not done by aam road-chaap janta, who went beyond control seeing a girl. I bet a half decent cop in the area knows who the miscreants. How difficult is it for Sheila Dixit (a lady by the way) to simply lay down the law that incidents like this means it is the Cops from the local Thaana whose rear end is on the line? No questions asked?
Kya cop kya janta, I can see all my aunts being bullied by their husband and Im from a punjabi educated and mostly non-business family. You cant even imagine how many women get beaten in India everyday by their own husbands. People were criticising Aamir Khan for saying that majority of women get physically abused in India and I can tell u that the stat is at least true in delhi.
b) Far as I can see, aam janta of Delhi has already made peace with this. The last time we had similar discussion on Delhi I was astonished as to the lack of concern. Looks like it has hardly changed.
This sandess for aam aadmi is very good but one needs serious balls to implement it. Some of the people who witness these incidents are morons and get some sort of enjoyment in witnessing the crime, almost like Gladiator shows. Most people are just scared as they know that the police will give them a hard time, the criminal will get away with it and by interfering they might put their and their families in danger. I see this as a very valid point, its sad but when civic authorities fail to protect witnesses and victims then what can I expect janta to do ? Yeh padhiye aap
KANPUR: A minor girl, who had accused a local goon of raping her, was strangled to death by the hoodlum in full public view in a Fatehpur village after she refused to withdraw the complaint against him. The incident took place in Sidhaav village in bordering Fatehpur on Saturday morning when the accused, Narvada Nishad, barged into the house of the 16-year-old girl, Radha Sonker (name changed) and after beating her brutally, strangled the hapless girl to death even as the villagers looked on. The killer managed to escape unchallenged. The villagers later informed the Bahua outpost police about the incident who reached the village and sent the body for postmortem. The girl was allegedly raped by the accused in December last. Subsequently, the girl's father had lodged a case in this regard with the district's Lalauli police station alleging that Narvada Nishad had raped his daughter. The matter was sub-judice. Village sources said about a week ago, the accused had threatened the victim and her family members of dire consequences and pressurized them to withdraw the complaint, but they refused to do so. Moreover, the statement of the rape victim was recorded before a magistrate three days ago. Police claimed that angered over this, Narvada Nishad barged into the girl's house when her parents were away at work. Radha, who was sitting near the main entrance of her house, tried to run inside but the accused pounced upon her and dragged her outside the house. After brutally assaulting her, he strangled her to death in full public view and escaped. The rape victim's kin said they had informed the police about the regular "threats" from the accused but they failed to take any action. Police said a search has been launched for the absconding accused. Deputy superintendent of police Santosh Kumar Singh said: "A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC. We are on the lookout for the accused and will nab him soon." However, he had no reply when asked why the police didn't take any action on the girl's complaint. Tension prevailed in Sidhaav village over the murder of rape victim. "Additional police personnel have been deployed at the village as precautionary measure," informed another senior police official.

hes lhas lived in Kolkata n Hyderabad.maybe the area he lives in is a peaceful one:hmmm: I just posted what I came to know from casual discussion with him,u guys have put me on the spot:haha:.I will have fresh discussion again with him with enhanced knowledge now, thanx:icflove:
My office friend in Bangalore, was brought up in Delhi. She used to say that she never dared to wear short skirts outside in Delhi even when she was in class 7-8. The couple of times she tried, her thighs were rubbed raw with men openly pinching her in buses and streets. She was hardly 13, and this was like 10 years ago. Can only imagine the situation now. And Kolkata and Hyderabad are among the safest cities in the world, in fact if someone tried such a thing there in a public bus, he would have been lynched by others

Yes - you will never advise fine, lets move beyond that. Do you want to be living in such a city whom you then call the capital of the country? What makes you take so much pride in Delhi? The eve teasing, the sexist innuendos - what?

You dont get it do youuuu This is similar to that incident where this chick was offered a 'lift' late night and then later raped. It is really really really bad that he raped you and he should be castrated and then hanged, but what you did was silly and one should be careful! capital of India ki baat nahi, im sure everyone everywhere advice their beti or behan against doing so
There is nothing to "get" here. A girl is coming home after watching a late night movie. Picks a bus and is raped. Simple as that. Lets not make it more complex. Delhi is being pinned here because of the frequency with which it happens. How many cases like this you hear from other metros on a daily basis?

But shouldnt we aspire to make Delhi (our capital city) as safe as Bangalore and Kolkata and not the other way around where we have to restrict people's movement? With more and more women contributing to society and working, it sometimes becomes unavoidable to go out at night. In fact in Bangalore, despite the lack of night life, you will find many young girls outside after 10 pm taking autos, buses because of the nature of their work, or they just like to go for drinks after a hard day at work

How can someone be so stupid to get on a private bus at 11 in the night ??????
Just a couple of questions? Have you ever experienced something like this? Well not exactly but maybe teasing or something? Do you often go out at night and that too in public transportation? P.S. you don't have to answer this if you don't want to

There can not be a worse assessment really. The capital of India is so unsafe for women that they are supposed to be under a curfew on when to go out, and which bus to catch?
There is a practical aspect to it in India. Women are protected and generally don't risk going out in buses especially during the night. Call it a curfew, but that is one of the saddest aspect of being a woman in India. This is true for safer places as well.

All I can say is I am glad I was not raised there then. :((

I have never understood that apathy really. What makes Dilliwalla so unsecure as compared to the rest of the nation?? I come from the worst part of the country from law perspective but even there woman are far more secure. Have you heard of 7 lakh girls going to school everyday in Bihar on a cycle? The plan for which Nitish Kumar received many a kudos? That has been ongoing for years and I cant remember a single case of eve-teasing. On the other hand anytime I am in Delhi I see girls covering their face with dupatta, some of them to desist advances of men. Really? WTF

I think desi has made some really good posts which cover the reasons behind these kind of things being more prevalent in Delhi. What's the solution? Unfortunately, the root causes for this will not be eliminated any time soon and might only grow with an increasing population of rich, uneducated people with jugaad. The solution lies in better implementation of the law and some changes in regulations. For starters, make it mandatory for each bus to have a security guard in it. It is not going to eliminate this particular incident where the bus staff was complicit and responsible, but it is going to cut down many incidents. Women should be encouraged to carry pepper spray. The judicial system in India and specially North India is so defunct that expecting convictions and arrests to be effective deterrents immediately is not practical. At the same time, unfortunately women would have to just avoid taking public transport beyond certain hours. It's not ideal, but you can't change such a deep malaise overnight. However, in this case the girl was with a male and this thing still happened.

Its all down to corruption. As due to this no law and order or trustworthy police. Commit crime, victim goes to police and then they arrest cuplrit and lock them away after due process. Then things like this and shootings of policemen and stealing of public money would be less as deterent. But people know if have money/connections can do anything

This is less likely to be done by some AmirZaade , looks like a typical gangwork of a Yadav-kumar -Verma -Jha migrant group from the official gutter of India . Incidents like these are increasing in Mumbai as well , mostly done by the same Bimaru people . MC apni biwiyo ko gaav chodkar aate hai aur shehro main awaragardi karte hai .
