I think MMS maintaining silence is better that making such useless statements. "Unacceptable" :hysterical: The CM of Kerala goes to Delhi to discuss things - Another drama. For those blaming the SC, what was the Attorney general doing for defending the case? Allowing the marines to fly when a postal voting could have been done. Pathetic, to say the least. On the other hand, those guys were enjoying five star facilities while they were in India. At least, some money is saved on that front.

Italy's refusal to send back marines is unacceptable' date= says PM http://www.ndtv.com/article/cheat-sheet/italy-s-refusal-to-send-back-marines-is-unacceptable-says-pm-341314 Must note - it's the SC who granted them leave not the government.
SC had asked GOI to setup a special court; a request that the government ignored. Sonia's henchmen had no interest (or received the orders to look the other way) in seeing the culprits punished. Anderson > Quattrocchi > Davy > These two marines. There is a pattern here. Western politicians have the nuts of Indian politicians in a vice (with all the money stashed in banks abroad.) Frankly, don't expect any harsh response. Chalta Hai as always.

Italian marines case: Supreme Court ask Centre to set up special court Two Italian Marines, charged with killing two Indian fishermen, today lost their Supreme Court bid to be tried on home soil after the top court ordered that a special court should be set up for the trial. The Supreme Court said today that Kerala does not have the jurisdiction over the two Italian Marines - Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone - and Centre should consult the Chief Justice of India before setting up the special court. The top court also said that the jurisdiction of the trial, which is currently on at a court in Kollam, Kerala, should be considered by the special court - whether marines can be tried in India or Italy.

The special court was setup NOT for a speedy trial but for jurisdictional reasons.

I concur that the government delayed but your assertion that the special court was setup to "speed up the trial" is not quite right.

Semantics. Read that news a while ago so couldn't remember the exact reason.

Significant development this, Marines coming back to face trial in India http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/marines-coming-back-to-face-trial-in-india/article4535116.ece

The Italian government has said it will return to India two marines facing murder charges in the shooting deaths of two fishermen off the Kerala coast. The announcement on Thursday reversed an earlier decision by the Foreign Ministry that the duo would not return on Friday (March 22), as agreed, after they were granted permission to return home to vote in the Italian elections. The case escalated tensions between India and Italy. The Indian Supreme Court announced that the Italian Ambassador could not leave the country. Special Correspondent reports: According to Italian news agency ANSA, which quoted Italy’s deputy foreign minister Steffan de Mistura, the breakthrough came after the Indian government assured the Italian authorities there would be no death penalty against the two marines. The Italian government also obtained a written assurance from the government that the fundamental rights of the two marines would be protected.

How come the govt assure them that there won't be a death penalty? Death penalty is highly unlikely in this case, but I fail to understand hw the gvt can do a court's job...
