ShebbySB Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Openers:-Gambhir,Mukund,Jiwanjit Singh(if he does well for India-A) Middle-order:-Pujara,Rohit(it's time now that he replaces god),Kohli,Rahane, Mandeep Singh. Allrounder:-Irfan,Jadeja. Keeper/bat:-Dhoni,Saha/Kaul. Spinners:- Ojha,Ashwin,Chawla. Seamers:-Umesh,Ishant,Shami,Aaron,Pankaj,Dinda/Awana. As it seems our opening batsmen are pretty fragile, middle order is young but has got lots of talent.Spinners apart from Ojha are pretty avg & seamers are young, talented but inexperienced. We dont have a single world class player right now.
NareshK Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Whoever the players are, the approach has to change and there has to be hunger and zeal to win test matches. Its better they go with a new team and look forward. Sachin and Zaheer have done their job and they have to move on, even though unfortunately the selectors will probably persist with them for the Aussie series. Its important also for fans to not have huge expectations from the new team as most of them are inexperienced. I think they will need time to get used to the challenges of test cricket.

Plus playing with no keeper is interesting tactic

ShebbySB Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 All rounders crapthan and slumdodg. Spinner chubby chawla. Seamers the hobbit dinda and trundler awana. You kidding me?:haha: Pathan can be a very handy allrounder in test matches & Jadeja has come into the test team with phenomenal performances in the FC circuit. So they're bound to get chances. Doesn't matter whether some icfers hate him or not.I'm sure if he fails thnhe'll be dropped. Chawla has taken 4 wkts in the 1st inns of the last test so he'll be in the squad.Dinda & Awana are 6th or 7th option & they're not as bad as some of u are making them.Dinda is a small skinny guy still faster than Pankaj who is 6'6 & Awana isn't a trundler. He went for runs in 2 t20 matches but that doesn't make him a trundler. He is fast-med.Even Meaker went for runs does that make him a trundler?
bharat297 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 My test side after the Aussie series: Openers: Ajinkya Rahane Abhinav Mukund Reserves: Murali Vijay, Unmukt Chand Middle Order: Cheteshwar Pujara Rohit Sharma Virat Kohli © Mandeep Singh Reserves: Manoj Tiwary, Subramaniam Badrinath, Ambati Rayadu Wicket Keeper: Saha Reserves: Uday Kaul, Dinesh Karthik Spinners: Harmeet Singh (best spinner in India atm!!!) Ashwin Reserves: Ojha, Mishra Pace bowlers: Yadav Ishant / Pankaj (I wouldn't give up on Ishant yet) Reserves: Pankaj / Ishant, Dinda, Shami Ahmed, Aaron, I.Pathan, Unadkat But I completely agree with NareshK that our problems run much deeper than selection.

Unadkat????No thnks Suyal,Anwar hmed are better options than him.Jiwonjit Singh will also be in the India-A tours after this season so if he's good I think India test cap is not beyond him.
bharat297 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 The only reason I said Unadkat is because he's got potential and was given a very tough test debut bowling to one of the world's best batting line ups (Smith, Amla, Kallis, De Villiers) on a then pretty flat pitch. I would keep him in an extended squad. Definitely not a first or second choice but perhaps a shot for an A-tour in the future.
zen Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 For the next 2-3 years, I would go with - Gambhir - Opener (Sehwag's reflexes are not the same they were a few years ago. The bloke needs to adjust his game) - Pujara - Sehwag - Kohli - Someone like Chand - The WK from Gujarat (can't recall his name, he opens iifc and ...., not Patel) - The spinner from U-19 WC team (M or H Singh?) - U Yadav - A couple of seamers (Ishant, Varun, ?) or 1 seamer and 1 spinner (Ashwin, ?) depending up on conditions The above is not very helpful as I can't recall some names atm :P

I agree he is young for test cricket. But what happened when we had Tendu palying at 17 years? Atleast, he will not be as poor as Gambhir/ Sehwag off late. Ideally, I would like him to play LOI by next year, and themn get to the test team by early 2014.

He is having a hard time scoring at Ranji level, so how is going to start scoring against international attacks. Tendulkar was pillaging domestic cricket when he was selected.
