G_B_ Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Too many parties fighting for the same minority vote bank and most of them work better than the Congress. The BJP vote bank has stayed with it.Congress must realise that they need to eat into BJPs vote bank and for that their appeasement policies must stop else they are going to be extinct. +1 The congress needs to move to the right and attract the floating voters who are leaning towards the BJP atm. There are too many secular parties in India peddling the same **** as the congress with more localised issues. Continue along this social path and the congress will become just another run of the mill secular party and be another version of the CPM. The way i see it BJP has a core voter strength of about 17-18% nationally. These guys will vote BJP come rain or shine. In many places in the South for example many people or voters who agree with the stance of the BJP dont want to vote for them for want of wasting their vote so vote for regional parties. The aim for the BJP is to spread their wings to every state and aim for a bare minimum of 20% of the vote share. The BJP needs to reach a point whereby come what may 25% of the electorate vote for them. The problem for the congress is that their core voter strength (which was 19% at the lok sabha) is probably currently on 16-17%. They are bleeding people who voted for them no matter what. There comes a point when they will face the same issue as the BJP even when there is a surge in their favour. People who like the congress will still vote for the other secular parties cause they dont want to waste their vote.

If anything you should be worried you have a dead weight in your alliance.
seedhi Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Mani Shankar Aiyar has started praising AAP. This should make BJP very happy. In fact, BJP should hope that Aiyar joins AAP (though he is too much of a Gandhi-bootlicker to do so, at this age).

He only likes the taste of Gandhi shoes.
diga Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Congress asked to vacate AICC headquarters... seems that the govt has served notice.:yay: http://www.newsnation.in/article/70506-modi-govt-asks-congress-vacate-akbar-road-headquarters-3-bungalows.html
Sachin=GOD Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 One thing is certain - there's more than meets the eye in Rahul's "leave". If you go by what the media is saying then its a case of seniors not willing to listen to him and thus he is sulking and working behind the scenes to get rid of them before becoming Party Prez in April. There's another theory that Sonia Gandhi now wants Priyanka to be actively involved and Rahul doesn't want that. Or, the reluctant politician that he is, he's now finally leaving politics and this is a first step. I think its the first one.
Sachin=GOD Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Congress asked to vacate AICC headquarters... seems that the govt has served notice.:yay: http://www.newsnation.in/article/70506-modi-govt-asks-congress-vacate-akbar-road-headquarters-3-bungalows.html In a statement, it said that as per the policy on Allotment of Land to Political Parties for building their own party offices, Congress Party was required to vacate in June, 2013 the four bungalows that are in its possession. The Ministry said this is because Congress Party was handed over possession of land at 9-A, Rouse Avenue in June, 2010 and as per the policy it was required to vacate the four bungalows within three years i.e June, 2013, which was not done. So its not exactly something that Modi Sarkar has done - Congress was already required to vacate these bungalows.
diga Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 So its not exactly something that Modi Sarkar has done - Congress was already required to vacate these bungalows. it was required to vacate..but who had the balls to serve a notice?
Sachin=GOD Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 it was required to vacate..but who had the balls to serve a notice? Obviously nobody in the Congress led UPA Govt would have asked the Congress to vacate its headquarters. Also, its not like BJP is throwing them out - they have already been allocated space for a new headquarter in 2010 and since they were supposed to leave this one in June 2013 and haven't', they have been asked to do so now.

I think its the first one. gives him year to elections in Kerela and Assam two key congress rules states...if true. The congress are shaky in Assam. They should pull through in the UDF coalition in Kerela. They lose both of them and they are literally down to Karnataka. The rest of the states combined are less than the population of Punjab aka politically irrelevant. In the case of Bihar even if they win its a case of living of scraps of the RJD and JD(u) so i dont think he cares that much. I dont think he is going to quit. Its a case of axing seniors. Only recently he announced internal elections. Does not sound like the move of somebody going to quit. Re seniors I feel that Sonia Gandhi does not like the pace at which Rahul is moving. In his defence the congress do need a radical shakeup.

Only recently he announced internal elections. Does not sound like the move of somebody going to quit. Re seniors I feel that Sonia Gandhi does not like the pace at which Rahul is moving. In his defence the congress do need a radical shakeup. I agree with that. Many of its senior leaders are corrupt, have no mass following and are only seen when the party is in power (just look at the likes of Sibal or Kamalnath - senior ministers when the party was in power....now they've just about disappeared when party is struggling) but they are not the biggest problem. Till a few years ago the surname was winning votes as long as person with the surname (Indira Gandhi or Rajov or Sonia) were seen as even a little competent. But now Rahul has proven to be completely inept and is actually losing votes to the extent that candidates don't want him to campaign for them and put his picture as small as possible in campaign posters - that is the biggest problem. Also, its not just the losses but the sheer scale of the losses that is the biggest problem - losing deposit in 63 out of 70 seats in Delhi (a state where they were in power from 1999 to late 2013) is incredible. He has had 11 years to put his mark on the party but he is still a very reluctant politician - very soon Sonia Gandhi will have to realize that the current loss (from Lok Sabha 2014 onwards) is not an 'ordinary" loss and the future of the party really is at stake now. If they realize that then Rahul will be asked to step down or become a full time LEADER.
G_B_ Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 so what happens when he comes full time leader and cant hack it , in terms of making decisions or even getting votes. Take punjab, its Amrinder v Bajwa. Bajwa was appointed by Rahul Gandhi. So what happens there? I personally dont buy this reluctant politician theory. Rahul Gandhi has made some key calls. Be it going it alone in Bihar (for which he campaigned). He has made some major calls for the congress over the past 4-5 years and most of them have backfired. The congress brand is totally degraded in UP and Bihar which contain 25% of India's population. This happened well before the loss in 2014 lok sabha. The Bihar call especially he was not reluctant there and totally misread the winds in that state in 2010.
someone Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Rahul cannot be considered the reluctant politician. That doesn't make any sense as he absolutely enjoyed and often misused the power. That is power without accountability which he had under UPA government. Now with such pathetic results, one part of Congress wants that Rahul takes some accountability which hopefully would improve the performances. While another part of Congress has just given up on Rahul and have their hopes on Priyanka. But Priyanka is a different case. She simply can't enter active politics as long the Rahul Vadra tag hangs around her. But that could change as well...
Sachin=GOD Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Kartikeya Sharma @kartikeya_1975 Just Heard that Pratap Singh Bajwa is being replaced as PCC chief of Punjab. Captain Amrindar to be projected as CM candidate. Don't know how accurate this is....but I won't be surprised if this does happen.
Sachin=GOD Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 AICC General Secretary Ajay Maken to be Delhi PCC chief: Congress sources. That was expected.....and a good move. Given time and autonomy he is the only person who can revive Kaaangress in Dilli.
