Dumbbells Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Netaji's fauj is an interesting subject. Most of his Army men came from a caste called "Devar". They are a martial race from Tamil nadu I believe. My friend from Tamil nadu told me this.

Lurker Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 ^Why are oriyas proud of bengali ? :dontknow: Tum nahin samjhoge bandhu :bootyshake: Subhas Bose is easily one of our greatest sons ever. And Oriyas should be as much proud of them as Bengalis are. The demise of Bengali culture, in my opinion, is directly related to ghettosization of India based on language. Bengalis used to live as much in Bengal as they did in Bihar and Orrissa. Ashok Kumar was born in Bhagalpur, for example. One of the first freedom fighters that was hanged in name of Indian Independence, Khudiram Bose and Praful Chaki, both Bengalis hailed from Muzaffarpur in Bihar. Bengalis, like other language states, shot them in their foot by moving back to promised land. Azad Hind Fauz :isalute:

They were sent to Muzaffarpur specifically for the encounter. Khudiram was otherwise from Medinipur and Prafulla Chaki from Bogra (Rajshahi).

They are a martial race from Tamil nadu I believe. My friend from Tamil nadu told me this. Martial race WTF:hysterical: Most of them came from Devar community mainly becoz Muthuramalinga Devar was a close friend of Netaji and was a hugely charismatic and popular leader of Devar community at that time.Huge no of youngsters joined becoz of rallying call.
Raghav_12 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 ^Why are oriyas proud of bengali ? :dontknow: That is poor sense of history. Bihar and Orissa were considered part of Bengal until well into 20th century. Officially Bihar and Orissa were seperated from Bengal in 1912 only. Before that Nawab's of Bengal's like Mir Jaffer or Siraz, were known as Nawab's of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. Netaji was born in 1897 and that time Cuttuck was very much part of Bengal. Even now these states, particularly border areas, exhibit strong bong influenece. In places like Dhanbad, you would find a larger proportion of people as cigarrete smokers than rest of the Bihar etc.

Texy Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 That man was born with balls of steel, part of the golden generation of bengalis including Bagha Jatin and Rashbehari Bose. His resilience and character strength was indisputable. I've read that he had once slapped a British professor in Calcutta who had used filthy language against India and Indians. When Hitler started lecturing Bose on politics Bose had replied, "I have not come here to learn politics from you, that I had learned in college life".Saying that in front of a man who was the most powerful man in the world at that time required immense strength of character. Netaji's character strength was redefined when he chose to resign from Congress even after winning victory over Gandhi's candidate Pattabhi Sitaramayya.
