He is the fastest of the bowlers in ROI and he seems to have also learned to land the ball on the seam and getting some swing. This is now a very good batting surface and you cant expect seamers to do a lot here, other than play on batsmen's patience and wait for them to make a mistake.

Had a poor season too. What has he done too get selected here ? Others could have bowled atleast to Pandey level even on this pitch.
putrevus Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Mithun is the most useless bowler on display so far, all he is doing is angling the ball wide of crease.He has no wicket taking delivery which he can bank on. Sreesanth is same as always trying too many things instead of settling in some line and length.

Still has to add 5-10 k to his speed. He is right now bowling as quick as B Kumar. If a bowler like Pandey is considered, B Kumar should be ahead of him as the latter gets more swing and he has done well in ODIs as well.

Gets more bounce too. You would not have selected Stuart Clark with this logic. In India even Mcgrath was bowling low 130's many a time.

That is one reason why Jaffar is in Ranjis and not in team India. He has scored tons against Anderson, Steyn, Ntini, Pollock in away conditions already. WI too. Every batsman can be late due to swing and variations on occasions. Even Sachin was in the last televised match against even more ordinary bowlers.

That is one reason why Jaffar is in Ranjis and not in team India. A batsman has to be late in shot making. That's the key to playing good pace bowling. In India, on slow tracks, batsmen reach out and play shots and get away it because there is no real movement or bounce or pace. In foreign conditions, this will land them in trouble. Jaffer played well in Eng, SA, WI when there was help for bowlers but failed on some occasions and was sacked and never got back in after Sehwag, Gambhir started doing well. I think he may have done well for India if given a longer rope.

Instead he got more reprieves from umpires and scored a 100 but people will only look at his 100, not how the 100 was scored.

It was a tough pitch to bat on and he scored a match winning ton.

He did better in England than most other openers in recent times and in SA too except Gambhir. You are talking as if all other options are perfect Bradman's.
