On a ÃÃ…ream track with a fair share of grass on it, the likes of this Ranji seasonÃÔ highest wicket-taker, Ishwar Pandey of Madhya Pradesh, the wiry Sandeep Warrier from Kerala and left-armer Aniket Choudhary of Rajasthan gave it their all at the nets, closely monitored by India coach Duncan Fletcher and the teamÃÔ bowling coach Joe Dawes. The spinners, meanwhile, tried to impress by imparting more flight, showcasing their skills at the adjacent nets as the three-day bowlers camp at the National Cricket Academy concluded here. As many as 18 bowlers 11 pacers and seven spinners participated in the camp, a welcome initiative by the BCCI where the non-international/non-contracted players who performed well in the just concluded Ranji season were called up for a closer look. The first two days of the camp was devoted to medical and fitness tests while Tuesday saw the fringe players getting the opportunity to get on the radar of the men who matter with chairman of selectors Sandeep Patil keenly watching the boys. Elaborating on the initiative, BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale said: ŵhe selectors have picked these bowlers for a specific purpose. At times, the coaches and the support staff are not in a position to see those who have done well (in domestic cricket). Basically weÃÓe trying to create a pool of cricketers so that the support staff and coaches can have a look at them. Jagdale added that this initiative will be a continuous process and it will be extended to the batsmen as well. ŸeÃÓe trying to see that some of the bowlers are part of the practice games and they also bowl to the Indian team in the nets so that they stay motivated. rkt.india Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Support staff may not see them live in action but can still see the videos of their broadcasted matches. Likes of Pandey, Kaul, Rajpoot, Aniket, all had their matches broadcast because bowling in the nets is completely different than seeing them bowling in the match itself. I hope they do watch those match videos too as that is what gives the best idea about them and what they are lacking.

I hope even Pankaj shows how he has improved through IPL as selectors are not ready to consider him.

Need longer duration camp like 10-5 days, 3-5 days is a too short a duration for a camp.

The top brass of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally woken up to the fact that Indian cricket needs a roadmap. Since IndiaÃÔ pathetic performances in England and Australia, where they were thrashed 0-4, there have been calls, loud and clear, for the administration to address the problems plaguing the system immediately. But, what should have been done a year ago itÃÔ exactly 12 months since India's away misery was complete in Australia the BCCI is trying to rectify now. On Tuesday, the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore was the venue for the decision-makers of Indian cricket to assemble. BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale, chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty, NCA chairman Ranjib Biswal, NCA staff, selectors and the entire support staff of the various Indian teams senior, A and junior was present to discuss the road ahead. Winds of change While no path-breaking decisions are expected to come out of the meeting, but, at least, there are signs of intent. It is learnt that the discussions revolved around improving the bench strength and also create a bigger talent pool mainly bowlers. On Tuesday, 18 bowlers 12 pacers and 8 spinners completed a three-day camp with India coach Duncan Fletcher and bowling coach Joe Dawes. Sources said the duo wasnÃÕ impressed much with what they saw, though they have been given the job of pruning the list to 10, who will be assessed quarterly. Another important agenda was to find a way for better co-ordination between the NCA and support staff of the various Indian teams, with injury management being the main issue. Often, the Indian support staff has found it tough to get the status of injury-prone players. Jagdale agreed that frequent injuries to bowlers were an area of concern. ŵhis meeting is basically to have a better co-ordination between the NCA, the (Indian team) support staff and the â team support staff so that there is uniformity in fitness levels and skill management. Also, we need to monitor the fitness and skill levels of upcoming cricketers, the secretary said. Meanwhile, there was a lengthy discussion on the appointment of a spin coach for the India team. Jagdale also said that no name had been finalised for the post of NCA director. The seat has been lying vacant ever since Sandeep Patil became the chief selector.

Everyone is certainly not going to impress them likes of Rishi Dhawan, Imtiyaz, Suraj Yadav must be too slow for their liking. Sandeep Sharma is too young and very slow. Most impressive pace bowlers from these are Pandey, Warrier, Rajpoot and Kaul, not seen Mohit Sharma so cannot say. Chaudhary might also got their attention because he is the tallest of them all and left armer. Other than that guys like Sandeep, Kaul, Mohit, Imtiyaz are of shorter heights. Spinners are least ones to impress them.

Spinners:-Rahul Sharma,Harmeet Singh.Quality of our spinners have gone down the chute..it's very very disappointing indeed.

Chaudhary might also got their attention because he is the tallest of them all and left armer. Other than that guys like Sandeep, Kaul, Mohit, Imtiyaz are of shorter heights. Spinners are least ones to impress them. Aniket Chodhary has FC avg of 40+ & he's 120-125k bowler.Wagh & Suyal are better than him.How fast is Ankit Rajpoot?

I think it's important for India to have a good 10-15 good pacemen (some quick, some pure swing, all accurate) ready to go at any time, so we can start picking the team according to tactics as opposed to "Ok who has been the least crap".
