prinzo Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Don't forget the left arm fast pacer of BRETT SCHULTZ , but injury up short his game, him and Donald were a potent bowling attack
don_corleone840 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 steyn is on the way of becoming greatest fast bowler of all time
Crookbond Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 In Test matches as of now, I will go with both Donald and Steyn. The thing I would watch out for in the upcoming years to choose between the two is longevity. However, lets not forget two other SA greats who played (or rather could not) during the apartheid era - Vintcent Van Der Bijl (FC average of 16.54 from 156 matches with 767 wickets) and Mike Procter (FC average of 1953 from 401 matches and 1417 wickets). In ODIs, I think it is quite safe to choose Pollock over any others.

Precambrian Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 At the end of his career Steyn would've surpassed Muralitharan as the highest wicket taker in tests and odi's. That sounds a huge stretch to be honest. Assuming he will play till the age of 35, that would give about 7 more years. If he plays on an average 10 tests per year and takes 6 wickets on avg per test match, he would take another 420 wickets to his existing 314.
Precambrian Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Steyn at the moment for me. In fact, i believe he has already done what Donald did, in much less friendly conditions. Anything from now on is a bonus imho. If Steyn continues to do what he has done for another 3-4 years, he should be hoverign around that 500 wickets mark - which would elevate him to being the best fast bowler of all time in test cricket.
