Thankfully no test cricket for the next 7-8 months after this one. Their is a gap for Pakistan series. Wonder whether that'll happen. Surely BCCI will come up with something else ?

bharat297 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Rohit failed in Irani Trophy,but yes looked elegant:nice: Jaddu is more in as a back up spinner than a batsman.,Rahane will bat at 6 I hope Jadeja is just a back up spinner and not as an all-rounder, but in the last test he played he was picked in the No.7 spot as an allrounder. Rahane would be ok at 6. Rohit Sharma failed in Irani yes, but he's had a good season of domestic cricket and would be much better equipped technically than Jadeja to handle the moving ball from Starc, etc.

Given the current political climate, any series with Pak is now ruled out. Like we had the Kiwis come over for 2 tests in Aug-Sept last year, may see a series with maybe the Lankans if they are free or who knows a series with BD could be arranged.

Pagalpanti Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Selectors seem to have a lot of faith in Dinda and Ishant. Shami would feel gutted. Anyway from the squad its best if Sehwag is pushed to middle order and Rahane and Dhawan open. But the most likely thing is Vijay and Sehwag will open, which means we'll be 10/2 in no time.

Ideally, I would have liked Shami in the playing 11. He is the only fit and tried pacer with pace, control and movement. Bhuvi lacks pace and Ishant lacks control and brains.

Should make new identity with younger age if being 34 is a crime. 30+ tests at his peak is good enough to conclude he is done. Piling on the runs in domestic cricket is fine but there's a reason why he couldn't succeed at int'l level. He'll be at best a short term option and given that age (turns 35 in a few days), it will going backwards. Also if Jaffer is to be considered, why not Majumdar, Kanitkar, Chopra or Dheeraj Jadhav too?
