rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Huh ? Why should I leave first test ? He was the highest wicket taker in that game, got 9 wickets and he was still a lot better than Ashwin or Bhajji in the remaining games. And you are wrong about Panesar not flighting the ball. Did you even see the game ? He bowled 90-95 kph consistently but he did flight the ball often and got lot more turn and bounce on account of that. Leave first because it took them an inning first innings of the first match to come to terms and after that even in second innings of first test they did well. Regarding Panesar, how can one flight the ball at 95 kph? He did flight here and there at slower pace but that just to mix the pace up. The best thing he had was consistency which both our spinners Ashwin and Ojha lacked big time. Ojha may be our best bowler, but no way he was good.
saneindian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Ojha in his last 9 tests in India - 9 tests, 53 wickets@25, with 5 5-ers, strike rate of 60 The most telling stats- 41 of these 53 wickets were of top 7 batsmen, thats nearly 80% top order wickets. 42 of these 53 wickets were when the batsmen hadn't got his 40 showing he gets batsmen when they are new to the crease And yet he is dropped for Jadeja..shame on Dhoni and shame on the others in the side who agreed to let him make such decisions. Irrespective of how the team does in this test, this is irresponsible team selection and Dhoni should be sacked for this.
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 And yet he is dropped for Jadeja..shame on Dhoni and shame on the others in the side who agreed to let him make such decisions. Jadeja is in place or Yuvraj/Raina.
CSK Fan Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Best does not always mean good. He was average bar first test. Duh, the point is, he was much better than Ashwin and definitely better than what bhajji is dishing out here
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Duh' date=' the point is, he was much better than Ashwin and definitely better than what bhajji is dishing out here[/quote'] I am not saying he should not have been picked. Bhajji should not have been picked in first place. My only point is, this is not as big an issue as has been made here.
saneindian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Dont think he is dropped for Jadeja but for Harbhajan. Jadeja is in place or Yuvraj/Raina. Bhajji has replaced Chawla, the choice the team had was of going for a left arm spinner and it was between Jadeja and Ojha, should have been a no brainer. Also Dhoni needs to explain what has changed between Nagpur and Chennai that he has suddenly junked his lone seamer -3 spinner theory?
saneindian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I am not saying he should not have been picked. Bhajji should not have been picked in first place. My only point is' date= this is not as big an issue as has been made here. WTF is that? Ojha has ben consistently the best Indian bowler in each of his last 9-10 tests averaging nearly 6 wickets per test, yet he gets dropped. It's like dropping a batsmen who has scored 5 100s in his last 10 tests, downright pathetic, illogical and reeking of nepotism, things which have clearly been in vogue in the last 2 years.
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Bhajji has replaced Chawla, the choice the team had was of going for a left arm spinner and it was between Jadeja and Ojha, should have been a no brainer. Also Dhoni needs to explain what has changed between Nagpur and Chennai that he has suddenly junked his lone seamer -3 spinner theory? then its BK who replaced him. Do you believe they would have played with 5 specialist bowlers and 5 batsman. Jadeja is playing as 6 batsman and bowler.

OJha's average against England was 30. It means 5 wickets per 150 runs that is not an astonishing peformance.
saneindian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 then its BK who replaced him. Do you believe they would have played with 5 specialist bowlers and 5 batsman. Jadeja is playing as 6 batsman and bowler. Jadeja is playing as a left arm bowler who can bat a bit at no 7 and nothing else. You are obviously defending the indefensible
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Jadeja is playing as a left arm bowler who can bat a bit at no 7 and nothing else. You are obviously defending the indefensible yes, but OJha cannot bat at 7. Jadeja is playing as an alrounder. Leave Jadeja aside and pick 4 specialist bowlers because Jadeja is 5th bowler who can bat means an alrounder. OJha and Jadeja both played last against England. It is obviously Bhajji and BK have replaced Chawla and Ojha, not Jadeja.
saneindian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 they have played horses for courses because Aussies have several left handers that is why 2 offies playing. OJha's average against England was 30. It means 5 wickets per 150 runs that is not an astonishing peformance. Horses for courses? Is that why Jadeja has already bowled 6 overs in the 1st session of this test match? Also, are you suggesting Ojha has no role in this series as Ausies will continue so many of these lefties in their batting line up for the remaining tests as well?
Number Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Oh yea, given a choice between Sehwag & Kumble bowling to lefties, the former should be the first choice ... right ? This dhobi has carried on with his moronic ideology one more time :wall: He is a tactical captain who believes in horses for courses. If opposition had 3 left arm seamers and Dhoni had Lara in the squad, he would drop him without giving a chance and play Murli Vijay instead.
fineleg Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 they have played horses for courses because Aussies have several left handers that is why 2 offies playing. OJha's average against England was 30. It means 5 wickets per 150 runs that is not an astonishing peformance. Horses? Where? We seem to be playing donkeys instead.
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Horses for courses? Is that why Jadeja has already bowled 6 overs in the 1st session of this test match? Also, are you suggesting Ojha has no role in this series as Ausies will continue so many of these lefties in their batting line up for the remaining tests as well? If the present bowlers dont do well then other options should be tried. Jadeja bowled 6 overs alreayd because 2 top order lefties have got out and a righty is batting now. Our teams traditional problem has always been dismissing left handed batsman that is why they have played 2 offies. Third was also out to an offie if that catch was taken by Viru.
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Horses? Where? We seem to be playing donkeys instead. You will obviously play what you have and make a combination even if you have to play donkeys pretending they are horses, but here people are saying this donkey is better than that donkey.
saneindian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 yes' date=' but OJha cannot bat at 7. Jadeja is playing as an alrounder. rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Yaar Dhoni has kept saying Ojha is a bowler 1st' date=' he doesn't suddenly become an all rounder.[/quote'] please explain how OJha and Jadeja played in last test against England together. How Jadeja replaced Ojha if both played last test match? Someone else came in who have replaced Ojha. I cannot ever think Dhoni such a defensive captain can play with just 5 batsmen thinking plying Jadeja is just a bowler. He expects runs from him too as well as some overs.
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Please also explain how you defend inclusion of BK in XI because that is another tactical error? see I am not defending Dhoni here.
