I cannot bring myself to hate Jadeja

I know everyone here seems to loathe the guy. But I cannot bring myself to do it. There are some players like Sreesanth, Smith, Junaid etc who looks like they have a punchable face. A really smug facial expression and arrogant haunty look. Jadeja plays with a smile on his face always. He never stops smiling and looks so happy you cannot possibly hate him. With him, you get the feeling that he treats every day of his life as an international cricketer as a dream come true and that he loves being there. The same cannot be said for others. Jadeja isn't that good, no. But you cannot hate somebody for being not that good. We cannot hate him before he tried his very best but even so fell slightly short. His fielding is a million times better than everyone else in team India and he tries much harder than everyone else. But you cannot dislike him for trying his very best.

I'm referring to those who boo him even when he gets a century or when he bowls a bad ball. Do they not appreciate how much hard work Jadeja has put in over the years to get to where he is at? he came from humble beginnings and worked his bollocks off. Every person who boos him, why don't you play for india?

I have never understood the emotion of "hate" in any case. You can dislike someone but hate is just too strong a negative emotion and must have solid foundations .

Jadeja has never gotten booed after scoring a century in an international match. That is because he has never scored a century in an international match. P.S. His I-don't-give-a-feck smile is the most irritating thing about his personality.

Most of the dislike for Jadeja comes from watching him play in the past. He used to throw darts at the same pace without trying to turn even the odd delivery. He was once hit for 6 or 7 sixes in a World T20 game against Australia which India lost. People still remember these sort of things. After his comeback, he has done much better with his bowling and I see no reason why anybody would have a problem with him if he continues to perform the way he is doing right now. But if he is an all rounder in the team and picked over a specialist bowler like Ojha, he still has to prove he can bat a bit and contribute. So far, in his two innings in tests he has looked clueless against pace.

He gets wickets and he's a really good fielder, so I don't know what people are whining about. You can throw around tags like 'specialist' bowler and 'all rounder' as much as you want, at the end of the day the results speak for themselves. Ashwin is in as a bowler, but he still ends up making more runs than the openers. Ishant Sharma is a bowler, apparently, but Jadeja always seems to have better bowling figures than him. It comes down to playing the team that will win the match for you. If your part timers are getting better results than your specialists, then give them the ball (like Yuvraj in the WC). At this moment, Jadeja is making such contributions. If he can sort out his batting, it would be a huge bonus, but even without it he's making a strong case for maintaining his spot.

That game against australia was washed out I think. First watson hit 3 straight sixes off his last three balls of the over. then his next over, Warner smashed his first three balls for sixes.

Did I say it was from international matches? His smile isn't a "I DON'T GIVE" one though is it?

If you weren't talk about internationals, what were you talking about? His performance in Ranjis? His smile is pretty close to that. Anyway, the dislike for Jadeja has not happened in a day. It's been a gradual process, over the years. And in a high profile game like cricket (in India), there are bound to be cricketers who are idolised and cricketers who are loathed. Jadeja is not the only one in that. His recent performances have been good, but he needs to be consistent in the long run to convert the disbelievers. And Dhoni's love for Jadeja over any and everybody is another reason why he gets so much flak.

It didn't get washed out. Tailunt played a legendary innings of 79 not out.

He was promoted ahead of UV in couple of important game few years ago and he choked in those games. He very rarely wins a game for India and still sucks when the team really needs him. Tbh he is better than bhajji but too much was asked of him and he failed badly. He is mediocre player but right now he is better than some other passengers in the team.

I was really pissed off at Jadeja during the T20 world cups Shane watson really went to town on him and he bore the brunt of my frustration. I think now a days people "hate" him due to his ipl price. 2.4 million IMO is a bit too much for him. Maybe $800,000 will be a good price. But that price makes him a target.

I think its more to do with the fact he plays for CSK for outsiders its cuz he gets $2mil in IPL. You already see hate for Maxwell from all quarters now that he is the new million dollar baby.

yeah, i dont think people will hate if somebody like a sachin or a kp get the big bucks. Jadeja and Maxwell are still not established international stars. I am sure if your somebody like Cook, you will be a bit disappointed that Jadeja earns more than you.

IMO..he is more of a bowler than a batsman ..for tests I don't know he doesn't quite fit in until he gets his batting right ...it was pathetic the way he got out in last test..he didn't look comfortable at all against pattinson...
