a) Don't bring in Dhoni Unadkat blah blah, Dhoni did not pick Unadkat, the selectors did. b) Both Kohli and Gambhir wanted Warrier. How can you attribute that only to Kohli and blindly say 'aha, Kohli has picked raw talent blah blah' when everyone saw a spark in him. c) Don't compare your rat with Gambhir right now. Kohli has achieved nothing in international cricket yet in comparison to Gambhir in any of the formats. Gambhir at least made a good start to his Test career in comparison to this rat whose average is only as good as some flop Pakistani batsmen.
But Dhoni selected Unadkat to play in the team ignoring Umesh yadav. As I said, u should have the ey for picking the right talent. Ganguly was brilliant when it comes to picking the right talent. He was instrumental in picking, Sehwag, Zaheer, Yuvi, Nehra and many others.

If Sandeep is good (as many are claiming), he should be given many chances. For that matter, all IPL teams have a good number of domestic performers. The debate was not about that. Apparently Javed Miandad spotted Akram in a trial - "He came to the trials at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in Pakistan, but for the first two days he did not get a chance to bowl. On the third day he got a chance; his performance convincing Javed Miandad to insist upon his inclusion in the national team. Akram was hence given an opportunity to play for Pakistan, without any significant domestic experience." Young fast bowlers are being picked around the around on the basis of potential. Some turn out to be Akram, some not. In the early 90s, when Sanjay Manjrekar was the Mumbai captain, he picked Abey Kuruvilla from obscurity and gave him a debut in the Ranji final where he took a 5-er. That was one of the greatest Ranji finals ever, with some Indian legends playing it. But Kuruvilla did not turn out to be an Akram, so you'll not hear of that story.
Kuruvilla got the chance to play for Indian team at the age of 28 or 29. How can u expect him to become a great bowler when a bowler is close to 30s.? Whereas Wasim was selected for their national team when he was 19 or something. He has mentioned in his interviews that he did not knew anything abt swing or seam. He just ran in and bowled fast. But they picked him based on his ability to bowl fast. I am happy sandeep will get the exposure at the right age, thanks to Kohli. Gambhir did not play shammi ahmed for 2 freaking years, dude...and giving chances to players like Bhatia. u call him he has the eye for picking the right talent? come on...

Gambhir is as guilty as nepotism as Dhoni is. Not denying that. But again, Kohli might pick players we don't like. So hold your horses till you see him captain for a while. Regarding Kuruvilla, the selectors delayed on him. Could have been sent to SA in 1992. But Manjrekar picked him up from obscurity and put him in the spotlight. The rest was upto the selectors.

Mumbai Indians appoint John Wright as head coach

Former New Zealand batsman John Wright has been appointed Mumbai Indians' head coach ahead of the sixth season of the Indian Premier League, while Robin Singh will continue to provide his services to the team. The news came days after Anil Kumble was named the chief mentor of Mumbai Indians, and a week before the IPL auction, scheduled for February 3 in Chennai. Nita Ambani, the owner of the Mumbai Indians franchise, said she was pleased to have a coach like Wright associated with the team. "It's a great pleasure to have John on board with Mumbai Indians. John is immensely respected and I am sure his cricketing knowledge and experience will be of enormous help." Wright was the coach of the New Zealand team from 2010 to 2012. Under him, the team reached the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup but a year later, he decided not to renew his contract with the team, citing differences with New Zealand's director of cricket, John Buchanan. Prior to that, he was the coach of the Indian team from 2000 to 2005. During this tenure, India won a Test series against Australia at home in 2001, drew a Test series in Australia in 2003-04, reached the 2003 World Cup final, and won a Test and ODI series in Pakistan in 2004. Wright played 82 Tests and 149 ODIs for New Zealand before he retired in 1993.
