Marketability of players or profitability of Rhiti sports are not the issues here. The 2 issues here imo are .. 1) Dhoni having a direct stake in a sports management company, when he is still playing and being a captain. Is it ethical ? 2) Captain definitely has his say in the selection of players, which is fine. Selection of Raina in the test team must mean one of the two things .. Dhoni is a poor judge of players' ability, or blatant bias in favor of Raina. Raina doesn't 'look' like a good test player (he played 17 tests), has obvious flaws (short pitch bowling, off spinners), doesn't have a good FC record (average 42, compared to 60+ of his challengers like Rahane and Rohit), had a poor domestic season (average 33). So nothing (factual) is in favor of Raina becoming a successful test player. The theory of successful ODI players having 'temperament' for international cricket, hence by extension, could do well in test cricket also doesn't hold anymore, some of the best ODI players ever like Bevan and Yuvi couldn't hack it at test level.

There is only so much blatant favoritism even Dhoni can show. But Raina will keep on coming back. You think like a kid most times. Rahane will be dropped first chance Dhoni gets.

so the drift is - raina who is part of indian loi team and csk has been conspired to be part of indian test team to make him more marketable so that the agency can make more money and dhoni can make more too. Seriously if this is true Rhiti's management sucks, they are conspiring to make their product less marketable. Raina will fail in tests and its better for his overall marketability to stay an loi player.

Think of it as a long term investment. Most people want to play in test teams. This will only encourage more and more players to sign up. You want a shortcut to the Indian team? Sign up!!!

Yep the team consisting of 40% of players of that company at any time. Players like Bhajji and Taina keep on coming back. And of course people like you see no problem with a captain owning stake in a company in which other players sign up. If you have ever been employed in any form you know the basic understanding of what conflict of interest is. Yet you deny that we have a clear case of that here. Strange. Conflict of interest doesn't need to have blatant favoritism to be wrong.

Exactly my opinion too. I respect Dhoni for his achievements. Terrific ODI player and a decent test player. But he's putting his credibility at risk here because of (1).
