Texan
What a co-incidence that all of them get fit in time for the IPL :cantstop: Link to comment
Texan
here he is If he doesn't care about his fitness being a fast bowler, he has no right to be in the Indian team. Let him keep playing IPL. Link to comment

Texan
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/ipl/news/Zaheer-skips-nets-again-keeps-himself-busy-with-sprint/articleshow/19278719.cms BANGALORE: Royal Challengers Bangalore pace spearhead Zaheer Khan, who yesterday missed the team's net session, today took part in some sprinting under the watchful eyes of physio Ashish Kaushik. Zaheer arrived at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, but did not go to the National Cricket Academy for net practice. Instead he did some running for nearly an hour, even as his teammates were busy doing catching practice at the other corner. After sprinting for 10 minutes, Zaheer was seen resting his hands on his knees and sitting on the toes. Zaheer had sustained a calf injury during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy game against Gujarat last December and was then dropped from the Indian Test squad against England. Meanwhile, Australian all-rounder Daniel Christian, who was part of Deccan Chargers for last three years, batted and bowled at the nets. The RCB team mainly focused on fielding drills on the third day of the training session. They had close-in and boundary catching practice, besides having run-out drills. Pankaj Singh, Vijay Zol, Sheldon Jackson, Abhinav Mukund, Harshal Patel, Arun Karthik, Syed Mohammad and KP Appanna went through rigours of fielding practice in the presence of coach Ray Jennings. A picture of Zaheer from the article, not sure if recent one though. Link to comment

Cricket Tragic
Looks like all the usual suspects are getting fit in time for IPL. After Umesh and Gambhir it's Zak who's back... Link... http://www.hindustantimes.com/Cricket/CricketNews/Zaheer-back-in-action-practices-for-RCB/Article1-1033388.aspx Let's see how many make it through IPL fully fit. My money's on Zak, Umesh and Sehwag to be injured in the IPL and miss Champions Trophy. None of them will (or should) make the ODI team anyway imo. Link to comment
saneindian
IMO Zaheer has most likely played his last game for India. So it doesn't really matter if he's trying to be fit for IPL. Deserves to make as much money he can before bidding good bye to cricket. Link to comment
FischerTal
Zaheer has really been inspired by Duncan fletcher. Link to comment
Texan
What stood out from the article to me was: After sprinting for 10 minutes, Zaheer was seen resting his hands on his knees and sitting on the toes. Link to comment
bharat297
Like him or not, we need him in South Africa (provided he is fully fit). He's the only one in our pace attack that has a brain and actually thinks about how to set up the batsman. Hopefully Zaheer has a couple more years left in him and can guide Bhuvaneshwar or Yadav. Biggest issue is that we cannot risk taking a half-fit Zaheer there. Once bitten twice shy. Link to comment

Once bitten twice shy.[/quote'] Yep agreed. To mitigate that I think India should pick a larger squad with players like Shami and Pankaj there as back-ups for Zaheer. To be honest, even Zaheer's presence at training should help these young bowlers. E.g. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is a promising swing bowler but the difference between Zaheer and Kumar is the mental side of things. I think Bhuvaneshwar could learn a lot from Zaheer about how to set up a batsman, utilising the conditions to the best of your ability, utilising reverse swing, bowling to the tail (something we desperately need to figure out soon). The Outsider
Forget about Zaheer. Rarely have fast bowlers contributed in a meaningful manner beyond the age of 34-35. Given Zaheer's exemplary fitness levels I don't expect him to be the exception to prove the rule. Link to comment
panesarv
B Kumar is mentally strong. He'll do fine. Link to comment
