Of course the guy is bitter. Would have never said that' date=' if he had played. Sour grapes. The irony is if he and the useless She-wag played, India would never have won the series 4-0. That is the bottom line. So suck it up buddy boy!!![/quote'] Last time when India beat Australia 2-0 in India Gambhir didn't say this

Where did Gambhir "diminish" the 4-0 win against Aus :dontknow: He was spot on, and in fact mirrored the opinion of most of ICFers when he said it's great to win at home but a team can only be considered a force when it starts winning away. I sincerely hope all our cricketeres have the same attitude and are not sated with winning at home.

And remember that happened due to a out of world of performance in Mohali, from jaws of defeat, by a certain player who goes by your moniker, with an injured back. So that was not easy either (2-0), if you know what I mean. No matter how one looks at it, 4-0 sweeps are tough and not easy, even if it is at home. I really commend MSD and team for accomplishing that this time around!!!

People are being misled by that dumb title of the media.

++ Spot on! The actual content of the article is quite balanced and would mirror the views of majority. In nutshell he said the 4-0 whitewash was no mean achievement but if we want to be considered a force in world cricket we need to win away from home. Who can disagree with that?

That is obvious without a doubt, it is one thing for arm-chair critics like the fans and media to say it, and another for a current player to do the same. It is all about the context who said it when and how. I will almost guarantee GG would have never said the below, had he played, and that is what some people are taking exception to. He almost seemed resigned to the fate, and sounds like he is a spent force not hopeful of a comeback given the kind of talent and competition he has in front of him i.e. talking like a former player. '"Unless a team wins overseas, they are not recognised as a force. I have always believed that winning in overseas conditions matters a lot."

WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG IN HIM SAYING THAT?

Just because he did not play that game and just because he think winning oversees matter more than winning at home (which is obvious) people make it a BIG DEAL for no bloody reason. Geez..we are worse than out media.

Sherlock figures it out with just a simple statement. He has been more determined than anyone after he was dropped. No doubt whatsoever about it.

Boss, Do not sweat it out with all those font sizes and colors. This guy will not be part of the SA tour and he know that, because he is no good at the moment. He has hung out for an eternity without a Test century, while his replacements found instant success that contributed to the 4-0 series win.

He makes an a very obvious and common statement it becomes a huge deal because he did not play that game. You guys should be in the media.

He said the same thing .. "Real test is to win overseas" but that time message was to Australia not India. :hysterical: . This time to India not Australia :hysterical:

Winning overseas important. But that doesn't mean we can lose at home like we did against England.

There is nothing wrong in him saying that winning overseas is important. But to mention specifically after 4-0 win that he would like to be part of an"overseas" squad and score runs in that is telling something. I think real test is for Gambhir now to make a comeback and make a hundred where ever the match is played!! :P

Agreed. It was pretty annoying when people brought up winning in SA means a lot more than 4-0 the very same day we cleaned them up and he did state that winning 4-0 is something to cherish and then made the oversees statement to which people are over reacting. Why didn't the same blokes go after Ganguly who brought this up right after we won 4-0?
Posted
^^Because Ganguly has retired' date=' Gambhir hasn't. (As of now)[/quote'] So? Just because he is dropped form the team means he shouldn't make such statements of winning oversees is important?

Because Ganguly is retired and Gambhir has been dropped . Massive difference .

No, there is no difference in it. Just because a player says that winning oversees matters more than winning a game at home despite acknowledging the fact that 4-0 was a great achievement. An attitude that most of our players and staff require.
