Death penalty for terrorists in India are not serving any purpose. They are creating unnecessary heroes out of them . Thinking that it will act as deterant is also not true. Many terrorists glorify martydom so hanging also serve their purpose.

I'm not really against the death penalty on moral grounds etc but I think it is just ineffective. What is really needed is strict law enforcement because if law enforcement is not good enough then even the strictest punishments won't create fear as criminals know that there is very less chance of actually getting such severe punishment. The police is so inept that a large number of criminals don't get caught. When some of them are caught, the investigating agencies are inept so many times they can't gather enough evidence. And if they manage that then in courts the criminals can bribe/intimidate the judges/prosecutors/witnesses. And on top of all that we have political parties/leaders who will support all criminals as long as they maintain their vote banks. Despite all these weaknesses in the system if the criminal does go to jail then even there many times he gets such facilities that he can continue his business from behind bars. As long as these weaknesses in the system remain, there will never be fear of punishment in the minds of criminals

How many got hanged? Death penalty isnt just there for effectiveness to stop the crime. Its also there because it gives a sense of justice to the victims and their family

You can't pick selective victims. It will create more divide in nation. As long the person is behind the bar that is also justice

We can't be influenced by developed countries and follow their stand. India has its own unique environment and needs decisions based on its own terms. India is a developing country, majority poor, slow justice, and has growing number of muslim radicals. There is huge cost and burden in keeping criminals at jail, and there are also chances that these criminals can escape due to our general weak security around. Then, these criminals are often used as vote-banks by our sickular politicians. We have a slow but rightful, correct justice system. Not one known case of death penalty of a innocent person. All of them were proven criminals and no sympathy.

I like the present system in India. There should be death penalty but it should be the last option. You can't expect Indian tax payers to keep feeding Kasab for 60-70 years.

Plus, if you keep them alive there is a possibility that terrorists might use blackmailing tactics to get them free. We have already seen it during the hijacking of that Air India plane.

It is proved and backed by evidence that even the most hardcore psychopaths show some remorse during the final stages before being executed. But you give them life sentence,it is business as usual....likes of Charles Manson still are delusional and don't care and seem to relish their incarceration.

India is a totally different case, you can't apply Western logic here. Our politics , vote-banks is enough to make criminals become victims if not heros. This is exactly why death penalty is needed to make sure these culprits can never potential get pardoned for their crimes due to some vote-bank politics.

What intel do they expect to get from the likes of Kasab etc? I understand Abu Salem not being given the death pentaly though(besides the whole Portugal extradition law bs),I mean from all accounts he was pretty high on the chain and I am sure there is a lot of intel to be acquired there.

Wow, at your first sentence!! You are either clueless or really ignorant. And we have terrorists labelled as victims, martyrs by Islamics. Death sentence is needed for them else they are just a liability and will put the nation at huge risk.

Can't be bothered to have discussion with you when your argument starts with such irrational idea. When there is no limits in horrific violence, we cannot limit ourselves in justice. Thus, there has got to be death sentence as there are crimes which deserve it.

Dude wtf looks like we are going on a tangent here.....I am assuming you are pro death penalty  If you are that's actually what I said....killing a terrorist is no different from killing an enemy soldier apart from extreme cases when you have caught the "general" where there are chances to get Intel for the bigger picture. Am I missing something here? Now if you are anti death penalty than you can obviously respond to my statement. As far as psychopaths go,no point in spending medical expenses on them....just fkin get rid of the cancer. Now sociopaths who commit horrible crimes like rape, paedophilia and murder they have shown remorse before being executed and putting them in incarceration doesn't make a difference.

If there is cold calculated brutality and murder, Victims family must be given justice. Thats what justice system is about for example heinous crimes like the one in Nirbhayas case, or Noida serial paedophile killer (Pandher/Koli), I will support hanging. I will give benefit of doubt( on grounds of hatred preaching by religion) to young terrorists. 18 isnt ripe age. In case of terrorists it should be around 30 or something.
