someone Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 In IPL, there are many players who were brought at high prices who are completely being underutilized. Examples like Nayer, Maxwell. Here these players do not have a role definition. Nayar for example, is basically there to fill the numbers (11), he doesn't bowl nor bat enough at all. What's the use of having expensive players as a filler? Why don't the team management use squad dynamics in their planning? It can be acceptable to have players perform poorly rather than not being utilized at all.
Executioner Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 maxwell has been lackluster. And dont forget that the foreign players of MI are doing very well.
SLICKR392 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 maxwell has been lackluster. And dont forget that the foreign players of MI are doing very well. + Maxwell easily tops that list.
someone Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 maxwell has been lackluster. And dont forget that the foreign players of MI are doing very well. That doesn't answer the question. Then why did they buy him at such expensive price if he was to only sit on the bench? What was the sense in it?
rkt.india Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 maxwell has been lackluster. And dont forget that the foreign players of MI are doing very well. He has not even played. How did you know he has been lackluster.
Sidhoni Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Maxwell owns this thread just like Dhoni owned Punies yesterday
someone Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Vettori is another one this season Vettori was brought few seasons back and have played for RCB previously. But what about these players which were brought last season? Thus, why pay such a huge money for them when they do not even have a role, no opportunities and no defination of them playing in their team.
Crookbond Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 That doesn't answer the question. Then why did they buy him at such expensive price if he was to only sit on the bench? What was the sense in it? Long term pick.

RedFever Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Long term pick. Isnt there going to be a mega auction next year.
someone Posted May 4, 2013 Author Posted May 4, 2013 Let's open up this topic, there are several more underutilized players, players who do not have any role definition and just play to fill in the numbers. I am talking about the likes of Satish/Nayar. What's the use of them at all?
yoda Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 It is ok to have fringe players in the roster to sub when some players get injured/out of form etc, but to give them perm spots in the XI is stupid. There are very few teams which have no passengers in the XI, namely CSK, RCB and may be MI. All others are carrying one useless player after another.
