Who should be India's openers at champions trophy?

I give 10 choices for you to select. For me it would have to be gautam and rohit out of all choices. Give your choice and valuable/nonvaluable input. :two_thumbs_up: Ps: I haven't added chand as I don't think he will make it :giggle: Didn't add pujara bhai either because most likely he will be getting ready for India a tour :((

My choice is Gambhir-Rahane Gave Gambhir the nod because of his experience. If Gambhir fails, get Dhawan in. If Rahane fails, get Rohit in.

Dhawan should def open. The other open can be debatable but Dhawan is a must. Vijay-Rohit-Rahane-Gambhir can compete for the other spot but Dhawan is needed.

It should be Dhavan and Gambhir even though i am a Rahane fan, Dhawan is in super form not withstanding his ODI record. Gambhir too has been batting well. Unless Dhoni requests Gambhir be axed due to politics or team issues these two should be opening. A bit risky opening with Rahane and Dhawan as neither has much international expirience.

He's done well in tests. He gets out because of slog shots and pressure of hitting from ball one. In ODI's he can get set and hit.

Gambhir Dhavan Kohli Yuvi Dhoni Raina (even though i wont pick him as i feel he will struggle, will probably make the team) Jaddu Ashwin Bhuvi Praveen Kumar Umesh with Rahane, Rohit, Mishra and Ishant as back up in the squad. Irfan has not been good in the IPL and neither has shami (in the limited games he has).

problem is we already have Praveen and bhuvi how many similar types of bowlers are we going to pack into the team? we can pack the squad with similar bowlers. Need some hit the deck bowlers like Ishant. i would have considered RP, but he looks unfit for some reason,.

We don't really need two spinners. Drop Ashwin, he has been poor in limited overs internationals recently. Stick with Jadeja. RP Singh is a horrible choice, especially after what happened in England 2011.

for me Ashwin makes the team. He is a handy bat. Mishra too has been extremely good.

Mishra can be in the squad but Ashwin is too inconsistent and tries a lot of variations. His pause and deliver technique gets taken for runs. As for Batting, he's good against pace but is a walking wicket against spin, and he's not a consistent batsmen. Jadeja is better, seeing as how hes has improved. Plus he had a good series in England the last time.

I believe Mukund and Vijay are better options than Rahane at present. Its not like the selectors absolutely have to pick the squad from the probables. I hope they use their wisdom. Heck even Uthappa can do better than Rahane.

really? on what do you base that on? or is there some irrational hated of Rahane.
