vinee, mooli, ishant :facepalm::facepalm: the biggest worry is the death bowling, who`ll bowl? if yadav doesnt get his yorkers right this bowling line up is more than capable of conceding 200 runs in the last 10 heavily banking on yadav, bhuvi to get their acts right,no hope from the other pacers. i`d better open with DK than mooli... team should be dhawan dk kohli nohit dhoni raina irfan ashwin bhuvi yadav pishant gayle will destroy us :((
So what bowling line up would you have picked without overlooking that the match will be played in england

The squad is decent . There will always be couple of players who will miss out . I would have taken a extra pacer istead of Mishra . Otherwise , its a good squad . We will beat Pak and SA & may lose to WI .

I think it is possible that players are getting punished and rewarded for IPL performances because the IPL is the big money maker for the powers to be. How else can you justify rohit constantly getting a spot in ODIs when in the last year he's average 14 runs an innings at a strike rate of 60? It makes no sense. Dinesh khartik? Where the hell did he come from? But then I checked his IPL stats and he's near the top of the league. I can see yuvi getting dropped but over these guys? For real? He atleast has a history that can justify a selection.

MSD (Captain) - untouchable super man of indian cricket (deserves his loi spot for sure) Dhawan --- Form pick (deserves the spot) Virat -- Picked for form and battameezi (deserves spot) Raina -- LOI specialist in form (deserves his spot) Dinesh Karthik --- ipl pick (if picked as backup wk then its ok i guess as he is ahead of the pack) Vijay --- CSK lobby pick (pathetic selection and doesn't deserve odi spot) Rohit ---- ridiculously pathetic pick (he's the new piyush chawla) Jadeja -- form pick (never thought i'd say this but he has earned his odi spot for now) Ashwin --- perceived as the leading spinner (deserves spot) Irfan -- shady pick (maybe due to swinging conditions and lower order batting) Umesh --- good pick (deserves spot) Bhuvi --- Exciting pick for england (deserves spot) Ishant ---- Manhoos pick (epic fail written all over... kutte ki tarah pitega CT main) Amit Mishra --- ipl hero who doesn't translate to international level (shady pick) Vinay --- Legendary manhoos pick (piyush chawla II makes the team for all important events) 6 unjustified and shady picks imo means this is a very poor selection job by patil though there are a couple of exciting relative newbies to look forward to (bhuvi and dhawan)

May be they wanted shami to play against southafrica A. TBH he is more suited to test than LOIs as he is poor in death:agree:

I can't believe the hate for Vijay even after he scored multiple hundreds against the aussies and was instrumental in the 4-0 sweep. Guess he has to shut people's mouths again and again. Most of you didn't want him in the test team in the first place. He threw egg at your faces. Why not accept you got  and that he has indeed come around?

Thats test matches. In odis he wasn't able to score a single 50 in 11 inings.

All Im saying is test and ODIs are different. Expecially test matches in India and ODIs in england. Vijay always did well in home test matches. Apart from the one series against south africa. Out side of India he's only got one 50 from 12 innings. Its clearly not just a form issue with vijay.

lol after mooli came back to form against the aussies all he has done is score 122 runs in 8 ipl games at an astounding average of 17.88 which is even worst than the legend badrinath so basically mooli has stuck to his loi average of around 17 (his odi avg, his t20 International avg, and also his current ipl avg are all 17). This just tells me that there's a big gulf in his game/mindset between tests and loi's.... doesn't warrant selection based on that test series. compare that to dhawan. He played aggressively in his only test knock and has continued that form in the ipl even after coming back from injury... that is what i would call form across all formats!

So IPL performances are suddenly a critical indicator of continuation of form in internationals? LOL! Like I said, the only way to shut people up and throw egg on their face is with performance and in his case he needs to do it every series or else the knives will be out in a jiffy.

Well it is not outlandish to be picked for ODIs based on recent test performance especially since we need openers in ODIs and our current openers of Gambhir and Sehwag have sucked big time. Whether he will be successful in ODIs this time around only time will tell, but it is absurd to call him a useless pick especially since only recently he was the top scorer in an important international series, whether it be tests or ODIs. Anyways, haters are going to be haters and I am glad the selectors think differently.

why just vijay, take vinay kumars example, yes its unlikely he is a long term solution but look at the alternates he is the best of the rest. you keep hear sami, rahul etc if they were so great then how the hell is vinay kumar leading wicket taker in IPL

yea you can go on with your egg on face theory..... i honestly would be pleased to see him succeed if he gets a go at the top of the order as that would help the team put up a good total. I just don't agree with his selection among the many other gaffes in this squad. btw, form doesn't have to be across 'international' games only.... if a batter is in good nick he will score runs regardless of the game being an international or domestic game

His list a average is good too. Danish khartic and rohit sharma are the two that annoy me. they've been given so many chances its ridiculous. Even though I still think Rohit can play a few good innings in the tournament. Its obvious those two were picked on IPL form.

A player's IPL performance: 1. can be considered to show loss of form in limited orders form and hence poor performance can mean exclusion from ODIs. ex: Vijay 2. cannot be considered for ODIs if he performs well cause IPL is Tamasha, ex: Vinay 3. can be considered for ODIs if he performs well cause IPL may be Tamasha but not in case in these players, ex: DK 4. cannot be considered if they play for CSK unless ofc he sucked in IPL

I have always said that IPL performances should never be considered for International selection but even if they are, then Vijay's selection is extremely shoddy: Matches: 11 Runs: 196 Avg: 17.81 50s- 0 100s- 0 Top score: 33
