well if you dont give anybody a chance how will you know? Obviously in T20s KKD would have a similar role to what he has at MI. They are two different types of batsman. MSd and KKD.
Does dat mean you will drop a SACHIN in his prime to give ROHIT a chance to play at number 4 in test.... btw KKD debut for India b4 MSD...

Me offcourse. I don't think you need any other scientific proof :beee:
The OP just posted Dhoni's record after Mohinder Amarnath criticized Dhoni in public. You can call him out for a weird time frame but I don't see the OP saying that Amarnath's comments inspired Dhoni etc etc which is in principle a straw man.

different players mature at different times. Would anybody have given Shikar a chance over Viru and Sehwag based on his really *****y debut in the Windies? Even in test matches i thought KKD got the short shaft. Lets not forget that KKD opened the batting with Jaffer against the new ball and did ok in England. Somebody like Dhoni is never going to be successful opening for India in test matches. Plus whenever i have seen Dhoni in England his glovework has been all over the place. I am talking extremely poor in the tests.

Paji kabhi to majak samajh liya karo. Itna serious kyon rehto ho aap hamesha :dontknow: What is the purpose of this thread other than trying to state that Dhoni have been playing much better since Amarnath has criticized him in public.

I am content with Dhoni in the ODIs. He has been the best Indian player there. But even his die hard fans have to concede that he has a poor international t20 record. Quite frakly i lost a bit of respect for Dhoni in this year's IPL. In the 3 matches v Mumbai CSK lost he sent the likes of Jadeja and Ashwin ahead of him. That reeks of cowardice.
A very poor T20I record and in fact many times has been detrimental to the team's chances. For the latter part, I don't think it is cowardice as much it is a flawed thinking of coming in late in the innings to score quick runs because others can't do so.

Not getting a chance, that cannot be any argument. As the debate then becomes guesswork And you are using IPL as the benchmark really? If so, MSD has actually been better in IPL. Really from the current evidence and expertise, MSD is comfortably better than KKD. Even KKD will admit that. He himself got into the squad as a specialist batsman and even the likes of Ojha, Saha were preferred over him as MSD back=up

Well considering he is captain this flawed thinking is costing his team the match. The fact is when CSK crumbled with the bat to Mumbai at the Wankhede Dhoni did his best to come late and avoid Johnson who was getting the ball to seam I remember the 2009 t20 WC when Dhoni used to come in at 3 and **** up the run rate so badly that is wrecked our innings. Dhoni has the slowest strike rate of any Indian t20 barsman who has played more than 20 T20s. His average is boosted heavily in that format by not outs.

yes it can. Especially when you have so many meaningless ODIs and T20s. Plus this is not only about KKD. the point is, is there a replacement for Dhoni as of now? I would say yes KKD as of now is a good replacement for Dhoni

It took three years of ****y performance by Viru and Gambhir to be dropped frm the Indian Team. Dats cos dey r VIRU and GAMBHIR. I dont think MSD been in any sort of poor run in an extended period of time... Technically KKD is much better MSD, but talent doesnt translate into performance. KKD didnt even hav a good Ranji record this year. He got selected cos of his IPL performance n I wudnt call it consistent. MSD has had some bad days behind the stumps. Hu hasnt. All i see is MSD has many more good days dan bad days behind the stumps. Plus he adds value as a batsmen n captain.

You skipped my questions and repeating your same points again.:orderorder: Firstly, we do not need a replacement for Dhoni now. A backup yes, but replacement no. Next, who exactly is gonna to be good enough or better than Dhoni is a whole another issue. And using IPL as your reasons, makes this debate useless.

If you r seriously lookin for a good replacement 4 Dhoni... den u shldn't be placin ur bets on players lik KKD, Saha n Pappu... Cos dey all started playin at the same time... cos the shelf life for des players after MSD retires will be minimal I wud rather giv a chance to Yagnik , hu i feel has the best glove work n can bat a bit or SANJU SAMSON

Would Dhobi relinquish captaincy in future? Will he be ready to play under any other captain.Or will he retire captaining and wicketkeeping the side? I can understand the TINA factor being propogated by fanboys..

Dhoni's catching is somewhat ok. But in swinging and fast conditions, his keeping (collecting the ball behind the stumps) is very average.

This was discussed even in match thread right after his criticism. Dhoni had suffered two failures in a row against England. I didn't say he "inspired" him.

Is that wrong? It means exactly what you have written. It doesn't mean - Dhoni did much better because Amarnath criticized him in public.

It might not be "wrong", but it's as dumb as it can get. As I said, why not Dhoni's performance after my wedding anniversary if there is no attempt to causally link the two things? Why not the position of planets before and after December 11, 2012 if there is no attempt to causally link the two? If Amarnath's comments have nothing to do with Dhoni's performance according to OP, why bother pointing them out and create a before and after timeline on their basis?
